Hi, everyone! It's Valentine's Day weekend and, despite my stated ambivalence about the holiday, I wanted to bring you a makeup look that channels a bit of romance. Instead of something soft and sweet, I thought I'd use bolder shades of red, pink, and purple to create a vibrant, '70s-inspired Valentine's look that doesn't pull any punches!
The title of this post is Love Squared because two of the products I used for the look feature the shade name Love. Perfect for Valentines, right? For the eyes, I used my new and already treasured Kat von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Eyeshadow Palette, a rainbow-hued stunner that I won in a giveaway from my buddy Chelle. I gravitated towards the pink and purple shades from the palette for this look and was happy with the result! I first applied Love, a soft lavender, all over my lids, then added a pop of colour to the centre of my lid with a mix of Swoon and Destroyer. For some depth and definition, I applied Rewind, a deep burgundy, on the outer third of my lid and Anthem, an eggplant purple, to my crease, For some smoke underneath the eye, I swept Echo, an indigo with golden glitter, along my lower lash line. Finally, I used Strutter, a mid-tone taupe, as a transition shade and Skulls, a frosty white, as a highlight on my brow bones and inner corners of the eye.
For the cheeks, I chose one of my favourite romantic, glowing blushes, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Flush, an ethereal peachy golden pink. And finally, the piece de resistance: on the lips I used my brand new Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Colour in Love. It's a gorgeous warm strawberry red that dries down nearly matte, is ultra saturated with colour, and feels super comfortable on my lips. It really is true love!
