Hi, everyone- happy weekend! When it comes to Spring makeup collections, I usually take a pass. Year after year, Spring offerings seem to put forward the same lot of muted pastels- baby pinks, mint greens, pale peaches, and silvers. No doubt these shades are lovely and have their place, but they're just not my thing. Given my biases against such collections, it takes a lot for a brand's Spring lineup to catch my eye. So the fact that MAC's new Flamingo Park collection completely stole my heart says quite a lot!
First off, the promo photos for the collection are totally up my alley. They are playful, whimsical (with almost an Alice in Wonderland sort of feel), and rich with colour. Second, the shades called to me in a major way. Yes, there are a few soft pinks and peaches, but the majority of options are rich, saturated, and cheery. From bold fuchsias to candy purples, Flamingo Park is rife with this vibrant beauty obsessive's favourite hues!
Given my excitement about the collection, I made sure to check out Flamingo Park on the day of its release (I was going to say its opening day, but that's just reserved for movies and baseball seasons, right? Maybe I should start a movement to begin using opening day in the case of makeup collections? Hmmm... I digress). I strolled into Hudson's Bay before work last Thursday and was greeted with all the colourful imagery and products I had expected.
After much play, I walked away with three vivid, beautiful products from the collection. My picks were:
Cremesheen Lipstick in Nice to Meet You
A warm, saturated reddish coral pink with a semi-sheer, buildable finish and flattering glow. Totally my kind of shade, but unlike anything in my stash!
Matte Lipstick in Have Your Cake
A creamy, matte violet fuchsia- super unique! I thought this was going to be more purple, but the pinky undertones make it incredibly flattering and wearable.
Matte Powder Blush in Life's a Picnic
A bold, vivid, warm coral-toned pink. Incredibly intimidating in the pan, which I always take as a personal challenge! Blended out, it gives the most beautiful, healthy flush.
Here are closeups of the products:

Seriously, if my makeup stash didn't already contain dozens and dozens of bright pinks, I would have been tempted to snag the entire collection. Narrowing things down was tough, but I'm so happy with my picks! I'm finding that my new Flamingo Park goodies pair super well with MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish highlighter in Lightscapade (which I'm wearing in the photo above) and Sushi Flower Eye Shadow (another stunning pink that helps me to channel the look from the collection's promo photos). Look out for a full Look of the Day using these products coming soon!
Were/are you tempted by MAC Flamingo Park? What Spring 2016 makeup collections are you eyeing? Are you a sucker for Spring makeup collections?
And it's last call for my Schaf Skin Care Giveaway - it ends at midnight tonight (Monday 12am EST)!!
Have a wonderful day! xo
The shade are soooo pretty! I like the two lipsticks you chose. I find blush ends up looking the same on me no matter how different it is on the pan. I will usually get the MAC collections when they have special packaginag haha
