Look of the Day: Black Honey #1

Hi, everyone! Over the weekend I shared with you one of my newest beauty crushes, the Clinique A Black Honey Affair All About Shadow Palette. It offers the most unique combination of nudes and purples, so I was understandably eager to put these stunning shades to good use! Rather than going for an all neutral or all plummy look, I thought I'd combine both of the tones for something extra interesting and fun.

For the base, I opted for my favourite light-to-medium coverage foundation, Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet and added a pinch of sheer plummy colour to my cheeks courtesy of By Terry Blush Terrybly in Sexy Plum. I also dabbed my favourite highlighter, BeneFit Watt's Up on the high points of my face for an extra glow.

For the lips, I reached for a brand new lipstick in my stash (courtesy of a Secret Santa!) that is an absolute stunner and a perfect complement for any purple-based makeup looks. Bite Beauty Luminous Lip Creme in Violet is an ultra flattering warm-toned purple-based pink that offers incredible pigmentation and a super comfortable texture. It was love at first swipe!

The eyes were all about A Black Honey Affair! I started by sweeping Lucky Penny, a warm champagne, all over the lid and then added some definition in the crease with Hazy, a neutral taupe. For a pop of colour, I applied a bit of Purple Pumps, a warm violet, to the outer corner of my eyes. It blended into the neutral tones perfectly! I finished by smudging Dark Brown into the outer halves of my upper and lower lash lines and adding touches of highlight with Sugar Cane, a shimmery white, on brow bones and inner corners of the eye.

Here's a closeup of the look:

And a peek at the shades that went into this look!

And a few more shots of the look:

Ah, my first go with A Black Honey Affair was a total pleasure! The shades were wonderfully pigmented and they blended seamlessly. I've always been a sucker for purple shadows and this palette lets me unleash that passion while still getting to meddle with some neutrals. And don't get me started on Bite Beauty Violet lipstick- I'll be posting a review soon where I fully gush about that one :)

Have a fabulous day! xo
