Good morning! Today's Look of the Day is another that was inspired by the stunning makeup worn at this year's Oscars ceremony. I've already posted a look emulating the makeup worn by the lovely Jessica Chastain, and have a full, step-by-step photo tutorial of Adele's stunning look in the works (which will be up quite soon!). Today's look is not a direct copy like these previous two, but rather one that is more generally inspired by a few lovely actresses on the red carpet.
I received a lot of feedback that you were loving the glowy, ethereal looks worn by Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, and Naomi Watts at this year's Oscars, so I decided to create a look that tried to embody the makeup of all three of these lovely ladies. While their makeup was in no way identical, each was characterized by dewy, luminous skin, glowy pink cheeks, and colour palettes of cool, silvery pinks and purples. I chose my favourite features of each look and combined them to come up with a look all my own.
Here's a reminder of the breathtaking actresses that inspired this one:
In many ways, this look was out of my comfort zone. I don't often wear pastels, as I'm convinced my skin tone is better suited to warm, golden shades than to those with cooler, silvery hues. But re-creating this look was a fun opportunity to play with pastels and, in the end, it wasn't so scary! I was actually quite happy with how it turned out.
Here's another view of the look, followed by a breakdown of the products I used:
The Breakdown:
Foundation: Shu Uemera Face Architect Smoothing Fluid Foundation #784
Concealer: NYX Above and Beyond Full Coverage Concealer #3
Powder: Laura Mercier Mineral Pressed Powder in Real Sand
Bronzer: Hard Candy So Baked Bronzer in Hula Hula
Blush: Laura Mercier Creme Cheek Colour in Oleander + a small amount of the pink blush from the Hello Kitty Parisienne Palette layered over top
Highlighter: Prorance Finish Water Glow Skinfinish in M13
Brows: Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Ash Blonde
Primer: Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original
Eye Shadows: Laura Mercier Sandstone eye shadow all over lid and as a highlight on brow bone and inner corners, light lilac shade from the NYC Lexington Luxury Palette on lid and mauve shade from the same palette in the crease, and a mix of purple and champagne shades from the NYX For Your Eyes Only Mysterious Brown Eyes palette (wish I could be more specific with the placement of each shadow, but I really just layered and played around!)
Eyeliner: Charcoal grey eye shadow from NYC Lexington Luxury palette topped with MAC Moth Brown Eye Shadow
Mascara: Clinique Lash Doubling in Black
Lips: Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Aventure
And a few more shots of the look:
And that's it! How do you think I did at embodying the red carpet looks of Charlize, Amanda, and Naomi? Any of you loving pastel shades for spring? Anyone a bit scared of pastels, like I am?
Thanks for reading! xo

Thanks, Abbey! Yeah, Chanel Aventure Rouge Coco is one of my favourite lipsticks for spring! Works really well with a smokey eye too, since it's so soft :)
DeleteLovely makeup! I think Charlize Theron looks even more gorgeous as she gets older! I have been into more of a natural rosy flush/ effortlessly glowing makeup look as well. It's quite refreshing from the Kardashian-esque heavy duty face.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Charlize looked absolutely stunning at the Oscars this year! She really is getting better with age. And I've been trying to adopt a softer look as well, especially for spring. A rosy flush and glowy skin always looks lovely :)
DeleteBeautiful!!!
