Hi, everyone! If you've been following my blog over the past several months, you'll know that I've become way obsessed with natural and organic skin care and cosmetics. After falling in love with The Body Shop at the age of 11 and becoming a devoted fan of Lush in my teen years, green beauty has always piqued my interest. During the past year, I've taken this longtime love to a new level by discovering several new luxury, truly eco-friendly and high performance organic and natural lines that have made a serious difference in my skin. The Detox Market has been a significant part of this enlightenment. They offer a beautiful, curated selection of brands, top-notch events, and ultra knowledgable staff. So when I was invited to visit The Detox Market's new Yorkville location, I jumped at the opportunity!
I am no stranger to the site of the new location; situated at 96 Scollard Street (three blocks north of Bloor between University and Bay), it was once occupied by another green beauty standby, Husk. When Husk closed its doors a couple months ago, it wanted to ensure its clientele wouldn't be lacking, so The Detox Market's arrival was a natural fit!
While The Detox Market's original shop at King and Spadina has a markedly earthy, rustic feel, the new Yorkville location is more of a sleek, modern, boutique-like space. The minimalist, geometric shelving lets the products be the stars of the show, as they should be!
The new shop offers several gorgeous lines of natural cosmetics, including Ilia, W3LL People, RMS, and the ultra luxurious Kjaer Weis.
It also features the potent natural skin care lines you would expect, such as Odacite, Kahina, Indie Lee, May Lindstrom, and Josh Rosebrook. The new location will also soon be stocking The Body Deli, which is an incredible fresh, superfood-driven brand that Husk used to carry. Was thrilled to hear it!
During my visit, I had to freedom to swatch and test numerous goodies, as well as receive a proper foundation colour match using Sappho Organic's Liquid Foundation (can't wait to test it!). And, of course, a selfie was in order :)
In addition to perusing the staff's summer picks, I also used my visit to repurchase a newly established staple (the gentle and effective Odacite Jojoba Lavender Serum Concentrate) and to discover perhaps the most perfect nude lipstick (Ilia Tinted Lip Conditioner in These Days; more on that soon!). The manager Laura was also quite generous with samples, which was so much appreciated!
Overall, I have been nothing short of impressed with all of my Detox Market experiences, and the new Scollard Street shop is no exception. Next time you find yourself taking a fancy stroll through Yorkville, I highly recommend adding The Detox Market to your itinerary!

Deleteilia and kjaer weis are everything! Lately, I've been making the transition into natural cosmetics. Most of the products that I use on a daily basis are natural/organic and now all of my base products are natural. I don't know if I can ever go back to using too many synthetic products!
ReplyDeleteAlso, how insanely gorgeous was that store?? I'd love to visit one of their locations one day
I totally agree! My skin care is about 90% natural at the moment and I'm trying to integrate more natural cosmetics as well. The Detox Market locations in Toronto really are stunning! :)
