Hi, everyone! One of the brands that has tempted me most over the past year has been ColourPop, and for several reasons. First off, the California-based company offers the most stunning, unique, playful shades, some of which have become instant cult favourites. Second, all ColourPop products are incredibly affordable! With lipsticks and shadows for only $5 and blushes for $8, they are ultra gentle on the wallet. ColourPop aims to create trend-inspired hues that are accessible to everyone, which I think is fantastic! Lastly, the brand is 100% cruelty-free with a majority of the products being vegan. Especially for such a budget brand, this is an ethic that I appreciate so much.
So, after pouring over reviews and swatches and stalking the website for months, I finally placed an order. And since my ColourPop lust had been pent up for a while, the result was a bit epic.
Here's a shot of my order moments after opening the package (with a bit of straightening)- incredibly sleek and colourful! The order came along with a cheeky personalized note as well as postcards featuring more information about the products I selected.
As you can see, all of the ColourPop products come in minimalistic white packaging with silver lettering. The blush and eye shadow boxes feature cut-outs that allow you to peek at the shade inside.
Now into the goodies I chose! First up are the Lippie Stix ($5 USD each), which are smooth pigmented lip colours that come in an impressive variety of shades and finishes. They come housed in slim white tubes with a twist-up mechanism. The lipstick bullets themselves are also slim and slanted at the tip to make application quite effortless.
The shades I chose are:
Brink (Matte)- A balanced mauve brown with hints of pink to make it totally wearable!
Clique (Matte)- A bold orange red that makes me feel like I'm at Studio 54
Creature (Matte)- A deep purple burgundy that will make for the ultimate Fall lip
Frenchie (Matte)- A bold, nearly neon fuchsia red- totally my kind of shade
Julep (Creme)- A bright warm pinky coral with a creamy finish - a perfect summery lip
And swatches of each of the Lippie Stix (on my inner arm, MAC NC15 skin tone):
Next up are the Ultra Mattes ($6 USD each), which have been getting a ton of hype lately. They are liquid lipsticks with a (as the name suggests) completely matte, opaque finish. They come in see-through glass tubes with reflective silver caps and feature a standard doe-foot applicator.
The shades I chose are:
Bumble- A mid-tone peachy terracotta shade- quite unique!
Mars- A cool-toned fuchsia-hot pink hybrid- very flattering!
Succulent- A bold, retro, saturated orange red- perfectly old Hollywood
And swatches of each of the Ultra Mattes:
For the cheeks, we have the Super Shock Highlighters and Blushes ($8 USD each). They promise unique, vivid hues in a range of finishes. They come housed in plastic pots with clear, twist-off lids. The blushes have a pattern imprinted on the top layer, while the highlighters have a smoother appearance.
The shades I chose are:
Highly Waisted (Pearlized): A yellow peach with a golden/pinky duochrome finish
Fruit Stand (Matte): A true, neon orange red- bold, but wearable
Jelly Fish (Pearlized): A reddish coral with the most flattering glowy sheen
Jelly Fish is categorized as a highlighter due to the pearly finish, but I think that it would be better conceived as a blush, even for the deepest of skin tones.
And swatches of the Super Shock Highlighter/Blushes:
And finally, we have the Super Shock Shadows ($5 USD each), which, as with other products from the brand, offer bold, creative, saturated colours with a variety of finishes. Like the blushes and highlighters, they come in plastic pots with screw-off lids. They also feature a printed top and have the most unique texture- much like smooth, wet sand!
As you can see, a couple of the shadows arrived cracked (boo), but due to the unique, nearly cream-like texture, it was very easy to smoosh them back together.
The shades I chose are:
Bae (Metallic)- A warm eggplant purple with turquoise and green shimmer. So unique!
Coconut (Pearlized)- A teal-tinged ocean blue that really glistens
Empire (Pearlized)- A shimmery, bold cooler-toned emerald green
Fringe (Metallic)- A neutral champagne with gorgeous golden and silver glimmer
Game Face (Ultra-Metallic)- A warm coppery gold that screams summer
Heat (Satin)- An orange-tinged yellow with a sunny satiny finish
Lace (Pearlized)- A deep blue-toned violet with intense shimmer
On the Rocks (Metallic)- A multi-faceted bronze with golden and purple shimmer
And swatches of the Super Shock Shadows:
Phewf! Yes, that was definitely quite the haul. I haven't used every shade quite yet, but I've been ultra impressed with those I've tried so far. The pigmentation is top-notch, the colours are unique, yet incredibly flattering, and everything has such a playful vibe. On top of that, all of the products are beyond affordable and are also animal-friendly. I really couldn't ask for much more!
Due to the immense size of this order, it's my plan to not place another ColourPop order for some time. But man, it will be terribly hard to wait!
Have you tried anything from ColourPop? Which of these shades tempt you most?
Thanks for dropping by! xo

DeleteFruit Stand is another beautiful red blush! Some point out the price isn't all that cheap by the gram, but I like the idea of smaller sized makeup with a smaller price tag. I might try some soon for myself!
ReplyDeleteYes, another one for the list for sure! Yes, I agree! I have such a big stash, that I almost never finish blushes or shadows anyways!
