Veracious Product Review: Wet N' Wild Cover All Cream Foundation

Hi, everyone- Time for another product review! It's no secret that I'm a sucker for high-end, luxurious beauty products, but that doesn't leave me immune to amazing budget buys. Once in a while, there's nothing better than perusing the drugstore for affordable gems. Today's featured item is just that- an extremely wallet-friendly little goody.

During a visit to Wal-Mart a couple months ago, I decided to eye up the Wet N' Wild display. I've been increasingly interested in the brand, as they've really been stepping up their game lately and they're cruelty-free, both of which have not gone unnoticed. I instantly spotted a new offering from the brand, Cover All Cream Foundation. I had seen this reviewed on a couple of blogs, so I was quick to pick it up and learn more.

As you can see, the foundation is contained in a transparent squeeze tube:

The back of the tube touts the benefits of the foundation: long-wear, moderate to full coverage, a lightweight texture with a satin-matte finish, and integrated skin care benefits to target aging and dull skin. I was immediately intrigued!

My skin is combination/oily, so I've struggled with finding a foundation that is both long-wearing and light with a satin-but-not-greasy finish. This seemed to fit the bill!

Here are the ingredients, for those who are interested!

I picked up the lightest shade of the range, #815 Fair. Here's a swatch of the shade, each swipe more fully blended than the last:

Wet N' Wild Cover All Cream Foundation in #815 Fair (L-R), swatched heavily, slightly blended, and almost fully blended (in warm, natural light)
Wet N' Wild Cover All Cream Foundation #815 Fair (in cooler, artificial light)

And here's a shot to demonstrate the texture. As you can see, when I dab a bit on the end of my finger is doesn't run or drip.

Here's a breakdown of my impressions!

Colour match: I find shade #815 Fair to be a great match for my skin in terms of underdone. It's a neutral-to-slightly warm shade with slight yellow undertones. Because the warmth in this shade is so subtle, I think this would suit both warm- and cool-toned skin. In terms of depth, this shade is slightly too pale for my NC15-20 skin. Definitely wearable for winter, but as the warmer weather approaches, I would prefer to mix this with one shade darker. I think this would be ideal for those with NC/NW15 skin tones!

Texture: As the picture above demonstrates, this truly is a cream texture. Definitely thicker than a liquid foundation, but not as dense as other cream foundations, like Revlon ColourStay Whipped Creme Makeup. It's thin enough to squeeze out easily from the tube. It definitely isn't light as air on the skin, but doesn't feel heavy either.

Application: This foundation applies like a dream! The first time I applied it, I might have even squealed with delight. Yes, I'm a beauty nerd. This smooths over skin effortlessly, with minimal blending needed. Has worked great with both fingers and buffing brush application.

Coverage: I'd say this is a true moderate coverage foundation. A touch of concealer is still needed afterwards on noticeable scars and blemishes. This could be built up to full coverage, but I think it would get cakey if layered too much. With a light hand, this can create a lovely nearly-sheer coverage. So a super versatile medium coverage!

Finish: As promised, this leaves a gorgeous satin-matte finish. Not dewy, but not flat. Just a nice glow!

Wear: For a satin-finish foundation, the wear time is great. This definitely lasts longer on my skin than other foundations like Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum and my much pricier Shu Uemura Face Architect. But does it last all day, as promised? Not so much. It does last quite well for 6-8 hours, then starts to break down and get a bit cakey. So I'd say this would be a perfect foundation to last you during your 9-to-5, but if you're planning on going out after work, you might want something a bit longer-wearing. If you don't have issues with oiliness, however, this just might go the distance!

Verdict: Overall, I am so pleased with this foundation! For the price, it really is incredible. The finish is ultra flattering on the skin, application is a breeze, the coverage is ideal (I love me a good medium coverage foundation), and the wear is quite impressive for a satin-finish formula. It's a staple in my kit!

And some before and after photos to demonstrate the foundation in action!

Here are two shots of me wearing only moisturizer and primer (eep!):

And this is me wearing only the Cover All Cream Foundation:

And finally, in the context of an completed makeup look:

Overall, I feel so lucky to have discovered this frugal little gem! It's my go-to when I want decent coverage and don't require all-day wear. It really is a pleasure to use! And since it's so affordable, I will definitely buy the next darkest shade to wear during the summertime.

Have any of you tried this foundation? Does it sound like something you'd like to wear? Any other favourites from Wet N' Wild lately?

Thanks for reading! xo

  1. I remember being a pre-teen/teenager using Wet 'N Wild products. I only bought them because they were cheap, and I've been steering clear of the brand because I considered it very low quality, but recently I've been eyeing some of their products in the drug store, and they seem to be up to par with many other brands available there. I think it's time to give this brand another chance!

  2. I don't think I've ever really tried Wet N Wild as the brand isnt readily available here in Australia, but it looks amazing on your skin. It looks so nicely blended and has pretty good coverage too! I've heard it was a very inexpensive brand, so jealous it's not here in Australia!

  4. I am very impress about your opinion in this foundation, I actually love wet n' wild products like their lipstick and eyeliner, but I was/im kind of skeptical about this foundation, everything sound pretty amazing, I think that I am going to give it a try, I HOPE that it will not cause me breakouts.

  15. What eep?? No eep!! You actually don't need foundation, not according to these wearing-only-moisturizer-and-primer shots! But I do like the product, I like that it's light. Or at least it seems so.:) I only started wearing foundation about 1 or 2 years ago (I'm 26:)) because I hate the feeling there's something on my face so I'm always looking for something that doesn't feel like anything.:)

P.S.: I LOVE the complete make-up look in this post!!!
