Nail of the Day: Essie First Timer

Happy Monday, everyone! Starting a new week can be rough (why can't the weekend be more than 2 days!?) but the Monday blues are definitely remedied with loads of sunshine (the weather in Toronto has been incredible the past week) and with colourful nail polishes like the one I'm wearing here! Both are great at putting an extra spring in your (tired Monday) step :)

Essie First Timer
Today's Nail of the Day features a brand new polish in my collection that I'm totally smitten with. Essie First Timer is part of the brand's Resort Collection, which was released recently and instantly caught my attention. I'd seen First Timer featured on a couple of blogs and I knew I had to have it! It is a cheery, Springy grassy green that adds a lovely pop of colour without being over-the-top. Not quite pastel, not quite neon, totally fresh!


The name of this polish is actually quite cheeky, as it's a play on the term that newbies (or First Timers) are green. But Essie assures "Fresh. Fun. Fabulous. Try something totally unexpected like adorable newbie green nail lacquer and you'll want to do it again and again" (from Essie.com). Cheeky, indeed!


First Timer has a lovely cream finish that is nearly opaque. Two thin coats were all that was needed to obtain full coverage and rich colour. In the tube it looks slightly pastel, but on the nails (especially as you add a second coat) it becomes more of a warm, grassy lime shade. I've been wearing the polish for 4 days so far and the wear has been excellent. Only minor chipping  and the slightly shiny finish has  been maintained perfectly. I'm in love!

Overall, I'm so pleased with this shade! The formula is top-notch and the shade is so cheery and unique. Will definitely be a staple during Spring and Summer!

    I think the qualtiy of essie nail polishes is one of the best. I think this color is really pretty. My favourite at the moment is "cute as a button", although it's not green ;))

    I only recently tried Essie polishes for the first time and I am soooo impressed with them. This is definitely a colour on my wish list but I am yet to see it anywhere :( The minute I do I will be snapping it up hehe. Lovely colour and great review :)
