Sassy Valentine's Day Look on a Budget!

Hi, everyone! Yes, V-Day is just around the corner. I do celebrate the day with my silly, handsome boyfriend, but rather than a fancy dinner and roses strewn about, we spend our time playing board games and watching horror movies. Not typical, and that's why I love it! I also hail Valentine's Day as a perfect time to get a bit flirty with makeup. If you saw my last post, you'll know that this year I'm sharing a pair of slightly quirky and affordable, yet totally romantic makeup looks. Today's creation is all about dewy skin, lush lashes, and bold purple lips!

To create some contrast on my oily skin, I mattified the t-zone with the super fine Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot and added some glow to my cheekbones and the bride of my nose with the shimmery ivory hue from the Wet N' Wild Walking on Eggshells eye shadow trio. For a natural flush, I reached for my favourite drugstore blush, Flower Beauty's Kiss Me Twice Lip & Cheek Chubby in Rosie Posie

On the eyes, I created soft, rosy lavender lids, courtesy of the pinky shade from Walking on Eggshells and the shimmery purple from NYC's HD Eye Shadow Trio in Late Night Latte. For some definition, I created a thin line of Rimmel's Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner Pencil in Jet Black and added a few coats of Rimmel's Volume Accelerator mascara in black. I got the Rimmel goodies as a duo from my friend at Christmastime, which was such a thoughtful gift!

Finally, the star of the show- some serious purple lips! For this, I grabbed a fantastically bold shade that my sister gave me for Christmas, Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in Shameless. It's an incredible cool-toned matte grape that was more flattering  than expected. I couldn't stop checking myself out! ;)

Here's a peek at all the budget-friendly goodies I used, followed by a few more shots of the look:

If this post demonstrates two things, I hope it's that 1) you can create a totally fun V-Day look on a budget and 2) yes, you CAN wear a bold purple lip! For real :)

So, however you celebrate Valentine's (even if it's by consciously not celebrating), I hope you all have an ultra lovely weekend!

  9. I absolutely love the lip colour your wearing! I have that shade as well. I feel purple lips are more sassy and it's a nice change from red lipstick, I definitely wear it more than a red lip.
