Look of the Day: Feeling Romantic

Hey, everyone! For those who haven't heard, I have a 100 Follower Giveaway going on at the moment, featuring some goodies from Revlon, Urban Decay, O.P.I., NYX and more- you can check it out here!

Just in time for Valentine's, today's Look of the Day is awash with romantic pinks and reds for getting into the loving spirit. Whether you view February 14th as a cherished holiday or an overblown nuisance, the upside of the holiday is that you can sport some romantic makeup, regardless of your stance! And the chocolate. That's another perk ;)

The star of this look is my brand new Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Romantic, a rich, glossy warm-toned red that has me totally smitten! I complemented the lip colour with some warm, red blush (MAC Frankly Scarlet) and a mixture of pink, coral, and mauve on the eyes (thanks to MAC eye shadows in Sushi Flower, Paradisco, and Quarry). I don't sport red cheeks and pink eye shadow very often, but I liked the effect! Warm, flushed, and- of course- romantic!

Here's the end result:

A romantic braid to go with the Valentine's makeup!

Here is another shot of the look, followed by a list of products used to create it!

And here is a breakdown of what I used:

Foundation: Revlon ColourStay Whipped Creme Makeup in Buff
Concealer: NYX Above and Beyond Full Coverage Concealer in 03 Light
Powder: Lush Emotional Brilliance Translucent Face Powder
Bronzer: Hard Candy So Baked Bronzer in Hula Hula
Blush: MAC Blush in Frankly Scarlet

Highlighter: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Redhead

Brows: Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Ash Blonde
Primer: Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original
Eye Shadows: MAC Sushi Flower and Paradisco eye shadows (blended together in crease and outer corner), MAC Quarry eyeshadow (applied precisely to the crease to add some definition), Shu Uemura Powder Eye Shadow in IR911 (as a highlight on inner corners, brow bone, and centre of lid)

Eyeliner: Prestige Total Intensity Eyeliner in Black
Mascara: Boots Maximum Volume Mascara in Black (Waterproof Formula)

Lips: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Romantic

And a few more photos of the look:

C'est tout! This look was fun to create because I don't often get to play with pink and red hues on the eyes. It was a refreshing departure for the norm and I was happy with the results! Bold and romantic, without being over the top.

What are your thoughts on pink eye makeup? Some of your favourite products for creating a romantic, Valentine's look? Have any of you tried and loved Revlon Romantic Balm Stain?

Thanks for reading and Happy Valentine's! xoxo

  3. Love your make up look, not too dramatic on the eyes and then bright lips! Sadly pink and red shades don't match my skintone... makes it look as if I have a bruised eye.

    1. Thanks, Louise! Pink tones can definitely be hard to wear on the eyes; probably why I don't do it often! But always fun to experiment and sometimes it pays off :)

  5. I've heard good things about the NYX concealer but it's difficult to get hold of in the UK. I think I'm going to have to start saving for a trip to the States to stock up on things from my ever growing shopping list! x Becky
