Look of the Day: Burgundy Sandstone

Hi, everyone! Today's Look of the Day focuses on deep, vampy lips and glowy skin and eyes. If you've been reading the blog over the past few months, you'll know that I've been a bit obsessed with dramatic, vampy lips for fall and winter. I recently picked up another shade that meets this criteria- NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil in Burgundy. It's a rich, berry colour with wine and slightly brown undertones and a nearly matte opaque finish. Quite bold! I loved the shade so much that I picked one up for my 100 Follower Giveaway, which you can check out here!

For this look, I let the lips do the talking and left the rest of the face quite bare and luminous. I opted for a contoured cheek with a touch of rose-toned blush (thanks to Hard Candy So Baked Bronzer in Hula Hula and Laura Mercier Powder Blush in Rose Petal) and touches of glowy shimmer on my eyes and cheekbones with the incredibly versatile Laura Mercier Powder Eye Shadow in Sandstone. I passed on eyeliner and subtly pumped up my lashes with a single coat of black mascara.

And now a breakdown of what I used!

Foundation: Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Foundation in Shade 1.2 (testing a sample of this and really liking it so far!)
Concealer: NYX Above and Beyond Full Coverage Concealer in 03 Light
Powder: Lush Emotional Brilliance Translucent Face Powder
Bronzer: Hard Candy So Baked Bronzer in Hula Hula
Blush: Laura Mercier Powder Blush in Rose Petal
Highlighter: Laura Mercier Powder Eye Shadow in Sandstone

Brows: Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Ash Blonde
Primer: Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original
Eye Shadow: Laura Mercier Powder Eye Shadow in Sandstone (all over lid, brow bone, and inner corners)
Mascara: Clinique Lash Doubling in Black

Lips: NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil in Burgundy

Overall, I was happy with this look because I'm totally smitten with the lip colour and it's a bit of a departure from my typical makeup look. I rarely keep my eye makeup so basic, but I think it made for a nice complement to the bold lips.

      Aww, thanks so much, Chloe! I use a random assortment of things for my hair (mostly moisturizing shampoos and conditioners, as my hair tends to be dry), but when I wear my hair down like this, I always add a touch of Bumble & Bumble Brilliantine finishing cream. It's great! :)
