I have medium-textured (not fine, but not overly thick), wavy hair that tends to get dry at the ends, but oily at the roots, so I'm always on the lookout for items that will hydrate without heaviness and keep my waves looking healthy, smooth, and full. Here are a handful of goodies that have been doing the trick!
Batiste Dry Shampoo Tropical- Coconut & Exotic: In June I picked up my first-ever bottle of Batiste Dry Shampoo (in the lovely cherry scent; see it here) and was instantly impressed at how it gave my flat, oily roots instant fullness and freshness. Batiste promises that their dry shampoo "banishes oily roots, giving dull, lifeless hair the makeover it needs without any water... adds body and texture and leaves it feeling clean and fresh". I've found these claims to be totally spot-on!
Each time I use it (particularly on second-day hair, or mid-day on a particularly sweaty, humid sort of day), my hair looks 100% better after a few quick sprays. After working it in and combing through, it looks as though I've just washed my hair. Stringy, greasy locks, be-gone! Plus, I thought the Tropical scent would be perfect for summer, as I'm a sucker for anything fruity and beachy. While it's not my favourite exotic fragrance, it's definitely pleasant and warm-weather friendly!
Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner: This has to be the best smelling conditioner I've ever used! The scent is sweet and ripe, like a fresh coconut cream. Mmmmm... This is probably the third bottle of this I've been through (see it among my May empties, here) and I'm sure it won't be the last. Organix claims that this "sulfate-free formula adds gentle conditioners to create silky smooth hair [and] is enriched with organic coconut milk and coconut oils to moisturize while ultra-whipped egg white proteins repair and strengthen your hair."
As I've said before, Organix is not nearly as "all natural" as they'd like you to believe, but regardless, this is a really lovely conditioner. The texture is rich and creamy, without any hint of heaviness or greasiness. It provides light-weight moisture that has been leaving my hair looking nourished all summer!
Carol's Daughter Monoi Repairing Hair Mask: This was my first foray into Carol's Daughter hair products and I haven't been disappointed! Part of a gift set featuring a trio of Monoi Repairing products, this hair mask was a thoughtful gift from one of my best friends. Carol's Daughter touts that this "deeply repairing treatment nourishes your hair from the root to ends to undo unwanted damage and prevent it in the future." In addition to rejuvenating and hydrating Monoi Oil (a mixture of Gardenia flower extract and coconut oil), this formula also features strengthening bamboo water and hydrolysed silk. Even more, it contains shea butter, moringa oil, and hibiscus extract and is totally free of parabens, petroleum, mineral oil, and artificial colours. All lovely features!
The scent is absolutely heavenly (gardenia and coconut, mmm... can you tell I like coconut?) and the texture is rich and creamy. Though the warmer months can cause oiliness at the roots, the harsh sun and humid air can leave my ends parched and frizzy. This truly works wonders at taming and hydrating my hair! A little goes a long way, so this tiny tub should last me long into the Fall.
Lush Sea Spray Hair Mist: This has to be my favourite hair product of the year and is definitely in the running for my all-time favourite treat for my tresses. You can see a full review of it, here! Lush promises that their "sea salt, sea water and seaweed spritz holds hair in place, adds shine and gives body for a beach-beautiful look... Use anytime you want to refresh, re-style or add some volume, texture and shine". As claimed, this spray does wonders to give my hair body, brilliance, and texture, and really makes my waves look full and defined.
Beyond performance, the scent of Sea Spray is absolutely gorgeous! I get compliments every time I wear it! A blend of orange flower, grapefruit, neroli, and rosewood, it smells floral, fruity and summery. If you don't like the fragrance, you may not be able to use the product (it is quite strong and lingering), but if the scent is up your alley, you'll be happy that this really doubles as a perfume!
And that's it! Hope it's been helpful to read a bit about the goodies that have been keeping my hair healthy and happy lately. What have been your hair care must-haves this summer? Have you tried any of the products I featured?
Thanks for reading! :)
