Hi, everyone! Time for the second installment of Charlotte Tilbury Week here at Vibrant Beauty Blog! If you couldn't tell from my previous posts, I was ecstatic to hear that Charlotte Tilbury cosmetics would be launching here in Toronto. I've been lusting after her cosmetics since the brand's launch nearly two years ago and have watched her tutorials several times each. What's the appeal? Aside from the numerous product raves I've encountered, I've always been smitten with her 10 Iconic Looks, each of which channels a classic makeup look. As someone who is fascinated with the iconic makeup looks of the 20th century (I mean, who hasn't tried to emulate Marilyn Monroe's classic Bombshell look or attempted to channel Kate Moss's sultry Rock Chic vibe?), I loved the idea of being able to create these killer looks in a modern and effortless way. I also totally dig that Charlotte not only channels looks like Marilyn and Grace Kelly, but also edgier icons like Grace Jones and Bianca Jagger. Totally up my alley!
I know the fact that I've been idolizing this brand for ages set the bar quite high, but luckily my first visit to the Charlotte Tilbury counter at Holt Renfew did not leave me disappointed!
Upon arriving at Holts last Tuesday (the day before the gala I covered here), I could instantly tell that the store was equally excited about the brand's launch. The front windows were completely decked out!
The Charlotte Tilbury counter is situated just to the right of the front entrance, so it caught my eye right away. And eye-catching it is! The counter simply screams old Hollywood glamour, lit up in studio lights, coloured in reflective rose gold, and adorned in shots of her iconic makeup looks.
There are stations featuring the products for each of her 10 looks, as well as displays organized by product type. There are plenty of testers and lots of light!
When I sat down for my makeover, I explained to the makeup artist that typically I'd opt for something bold and colourful, like the Glamour Muse or The Rebel, but that because I had to go to work later that day, we'd have to opt for something a bit more subtle. After reviewing the looks together, we decided on...
... The Uptown Girl! Now this is a look I wouldn't normally gravitate towards. It's polished, refined, and a little bit prissy. While I do like luxury, I've never considered myself uptown or uptight. But if makeovers aren't the time to experiment with new looks, what is? Charlotte Tilbury describes the Uptown Girl as channeling those Upper East Side beauties who make high maintenance glamour look effortless. The muses behind this look include Grace Kelly and Olivia Palermo. The colour scheme features a smokey grey eye that's more precise than messy, a healthy flush, and a peachy nude lip. Here's how Charlotte Tilbury envisioned the Uptown Girl...

... and here is how the look turned out on me!
The artist used all of the products from the Uptown Girl iconic makeup look. They included:
Magic Cream topped with WonderGlow (as a hydrating, glowy base)
Light Wonder Foundation and The Retoucher concealer (shade #2)
AirBrush Flawless Finish powder
Filmstar Bronze & Glow (to bronze, contour, and highlight)
Brow Lift in Grace K.
Luxury Palette in The Uptown Girl (all 4 shadows, creating the "evening" look)
The Classic Eye Pencil in Audrey (tightlined and along upper lash line)
Full Fat Lashes mascara
Chic to Chic blush in Love Glow
Lip Cheat lip liner in Pink Venus
K.I.S.S.I.N.G. lipstick in Bitch Perfect
Lip Lustre in Sweet Stiletto
and a couple more shots of the look:

Overall, I loved the Uptown Girl way more than expected! I rarely opt for grey-toned eyes, but the shadows in the Uptown Girl Luxury Palette are incredibly flattering. Quite shimmery, but that's how I like it! And the "pop" shade created such a lovely refined glitter on the lids. On top of that, the Full Fat Lashes mascara made my lashes look incredible and Love Glow gave the healthiest flush to my cheeks (with a name like that, how could it not!?). And, as we all know, the highlighter from the Film Star Bronze & Glow gave the most out of this world glow to the high points of my face. Who knew being an Uptown princess could be so cool!?
I am so eager to test out some of Charlotte's other iconic looks and may or may not have bought the ingredients (i.e., products) to create one of her most popular makeup creations. That's coming soon!
Have you tried anything from Charlotte Tilbury? Is the Uptown Girl a look that you'd love to wear?
Have an awesome day! And Happy Canada Day!
I really like the look, so pretty! That lip combo is perfect. :)
ReplyDeleteI've never been to a CT counter, so it's nice to see that. It's very Hollywood glam!
Thanks! Loved the lipstick for sure :)
DeleteThe Uptown Girl look really suits you! The colours are all very soft and pretty.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait til Charlotte Tilbury hits Vancouver.
Thanks so much! Hope the CT counter lands out there soon! :)

ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Leah! xo
DeleteI bought a whack-load of Charlotte Tilbury products last October when I went to the US. None of them disappoint, although I admit I pretty much reserve the Magic Cream for winter as my skin isn't really dry and I find it a bit much in the summer. Love, love, love all of her products, and I'm so happy she's finally made them more accessible to us Canadians.
ReplyDeleteOoh, glad you've enjoyed everything you've tried so far! xo

Thanks, Alexandra! Love Glow really is a stunning blush :)
DeleteI'd definitely go for the Glamour Muse of the Rebel look, but the Uptown seems refined and sophisticated. I love the lipstick on you (that's the shade I want to buy...).
