The Girl Power Pout: Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips in Miranda May

Hi, everyone! One of the main reasons I'm a certified lipstick addict is that I fully believe in the empowering, transformative qualities of a good lip colour. There are few things that, in just a few seconds time, can completely change your look, mood, and attitude (maybe other than a few shots of tequila, but those effects aren't always as pretty). Such reverence for the power of lipstick was the inspiration behind Charlotte Tilbury's newest lipstick launch- the Hot Lips collection!

The Hot Lips Lipsticks ($38 CAD) were launched along with the tagline "Lipstick Empowers Confidence. It is Happiness in a Tube" and the hashtag #lipstickconfidence. The line not only promotes glamour and a bold attitude, but also the notion of women empowering each other. A portion of every Hot Lips sale is donated to the charity Women for Women, an international non-profit organization that provides material and emotional support to women who have survived war and other global atrocities. Now that's true empowerment!

The range is complete with 12 shades, each inspired by one of Charlotte's celebrity friends and clients. Every colour is designed to capture the style and personality of its muse as well as the "mood-enhancing power of lipstick" (from charlottetilbury.com). The lovely ladies featured in this collection range from the quirky, like Helena Bonham-Carter, to current it-girls, like Emily Ratajkowski, to Hollywood icons like Nicole Kidman. Some of the Hot Lips range hails from Charlotte Tilbury's original K.I.S.S.I.N.G range, while others feature the newer Matte Revolution formula.

The Hot Lips lipsticks come packaged in the typical mahogany brown boxes with gold lettering that Charlotte Tilbury offers, but with an extra "Hot Lips" logo (including a cute lipstick imprint) in red.

The lipstick tubes are a beautiful rose gold colour with the CT logo etched on top and the shade name on the bottom. The tubes are ridged, which give them a glamorous, retro feel. And they also catch the light in a striking way!

Even the lipstick bullets themselves are extra special for this collection! The Matte Revolution offerings from the range feature their signature square-shaped tip for precise application, but also have the lipstick logo impressed right into the product. Such a pretty, cheeky touch!

I couldn't help but capture the way the lipstick tube plays with light!

Now onto the shade I received! Hot Lips Lipstick in Miranda May** is a beautiful pinky coral shade inspired by the equally stunning supermodel Miranda Kerr. Charlotte describes that this colour was meant to channel the sunsets of Malibu and Bondi Beach as well as capture Miranda's fresh, effortless style. It was also designed to go along with Charlotte Tilbury's Golden Goddess iconic makeup look, created for those wanting to look like they've been long-relaxing on a private, luxurious beach.

Here is a swatch of Miranda May on my inner arm (MAC NC15 skin tone). As you can see, it's a true pinky coral, as described by the brand. It has the semi-matte finish of the Matte Revolution lipsticks and is certainly buildable in opacity. In the photo below, you can see some sheerer patches where the lipstick has just passed once, with other areas (where the colour has been more built-up) having a richer colour.

And here I am wearing Miranda May**. Even though it was designed with Miranda Kerr's blue eyes in mind, I find it to be quite complimentary to my colouring as well! The shade leans warm, but not intensely so, and is a wonderful balance between softer pink and bolder orange. Plus, the semi-matte finish is incredibly flattering on the lips. It leaves them looking full and luminous while still polished and demure.

For this look, I've paired Miranda May** with the Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette in The Dolce Vita, one of my all-time favourites. The warm bronze hues of the palette pair so nicely with the coral lip!

Although I am admittedly biased when it comes to Charlotte Tilbury makeup (I'm a card-carrying CT fiend), I honestly am fully smitten with this lipstick. I feel that the rosy coral tone would look beautiful with any skin tone and the semi-matte finish is so flattering on the lips. The formula is buildable and comfortable- not at all drying or high-maintenance. It is not the longest-wearing of matte lipsticks that I've tried, but re-application is never a problem in my books- especially when the packaging is so incredibly glamorous! Reaching for the tube is always a pleasure. Plus, it's wonderful to know that the Hot Lips collection is working to help distressed women across the globe.

If  I've tempted you (always my nefarious intention), you can find Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Lipsticks in-store at Holt Renfrew or online at charlottetilbury.com. Get your glamour on and support an amazing cause!

Which of the Hot Lips shade tempts you most? Favourite Charlotte Tilbury lip products? Which lipstick makes you feel instantly glamorous and confident?

Thanks so much for stopping by! xo
