Hi, everyone! It feels like it's been absolutely ages since my last Look of the Day, so I'm pretty jazzed to be sharing one today! I acquired some lovely products at IMATS NYC last month and it's been a complete pleasure putting them to good use. The star of this show is the Violet Voss Holy Grail Pro Eye Shadow Palette (which I reviewed in my last post, here) with a very strong supporting role from Besame's Classic Colour Lipstick in Carmine.
If you've seen the Holy Grail palette, you'll know it's rife with rich, warm shades of red, orange, bronze, gold, and berry. For today's look, I used several of these stunners to create eye makeup that is fiery, yet wearable. I started by applying Toffee and Cool Beans all over the lid for a warm, shimmery, mid-tone wash of colour. I then mixed a few of the berry-reddish shades- On Fleek, Glamping, and Cranberry Splash- and applied them to the crease as well as to the outer corners of the lids and lower lash lines. For some extra definition I applied Teddy Bear, a deeper matte plummy brown, in the crease and outer corners and then blended things out above the crease with Bestie, a lighter near-neutral matte brown. Finally, for some highlights, I popped a mix of Ploof and Crystal on the brow bones and inner corners of the eyes.
For added drama, I swept Chanel Le Crayon Kohl in Rouge Noir along my upper lash lines- it really is the perfect plummy black! And, after swiping on some mascara, I actually used false lashes!! I scored some ultra cheaply at Dollarama lately, so thought I'd play around a bit. First time I've worn them in a couple years! This time around, I sported Ardell Lashes #136. They were a perfect balance of drama and believability.
I didn't want my eyes to be the only pop of warm colour, so I swept a light dusting of MAC Matte Blush in Frankly Scarlet (yes, a wearable red blush!) and reached for perhaps the most perfect orange red out there, Besame Classic Colour Lipstick in Carmine.

And a few more shots of the look:
The Holy Grail palette is so ultra versatile, letting you create anything from ruby red editorial eyes to softer, neutral workday shadow, but I think the look I'm featuring today demonstrates the palette in perfect balance. It helps you paint sunset eyes effortlessly!
I'm happy that the Holy Grail was featured in my first Look of the Day in months, as I've truly been using this palette on a nearly-daily basis since I bought it. And again, let's not ignore the beauty of Besame Carmine- if there was ever an ideal 1930s matte orange red, this is it! I will be wearing it all Spring and Summer long!
How do you like wearing shades of warm red? What are your favourite warm-toned eye shadow palettes? Orange red lipsticks?
Thanks for dropping by! xo
I love warm sunset toned looks like these! The red blush is so perfect; with these kinds of eye looks you need that balance otherwise things can get scary looking lol
