Beauty in the Details with Paul & Joe

Hi, everyone- happy weekend! I have always been so intrigued by Paul & Joe as a brand because their packaging is something special. It is a perfect blend of whimsy, femininity, and playfulness that really marries the worlds of chic high fashion and cheeky pop culture. All of their products feature unique, lovely detailing and are the kinds of treats that are mean to show off!

Paul & Joe released two separate collections for Fall 2016, which couldn't be more different from one another, yet perfectly represent the brand's feminine, but cheeky dichotomy. The first launch is the Looney Tunes x Tom & Jerry x Paul & Joe collection, which , as the name suggests, depicts some of your favourite Warner Brothers characters on the packaging. The second Fall release is the A Stroll in the Park in Paris collection, a flower-filled array of products that pay homage to the rich colours of Fall.

Here are some closeups of the products I received- I mean, who can argue with the unique, beautiful details!?

From the Looney Tunes collection, I received the Pressed Face Powder Case 002** ($10 CAD), which adorably depicts Tweety Bird amidst a backdrop of flowers on the packaging. The compact comes along with an cute, soft little powder puff and can be used interchangeably with any of Paul & Joe's Face Powders

To  house in the compact, I received the Pressed Face Powder Refill 02 Lavender** ($36 CAD). Paul & Joe's Face Powders are touted as a blend of matte and pearl elements for setting makeup and creating a luminous finish. They are sold in separate pans and initially packaged in beautiful floral-adorned plastic cases.

The Face Powder Refills come in circular pans with a floral design etched into the powder. What a lovely detail! Shade 02 Lavender is a soft pale purple pink with cool undertones. I can't imagine it being used all over the face, perhaps except for those with the most fair, cool-toned complexions, but it is quite perfect for subtle highlighting and brightening on my NC15 skin tone.

Here is the powder nestled into its new compact:

And from the A Stroll in the Park in Paris collection, I was happy to receive Eye Colour CS 103 September Song** ($26 CAD). The range features three colour families, each designed to mimic the changing colours of Fall. The shadows include jojoba oil in the formula, which is said to enhance pigmentation, adherence, and wear time of the shadows. The finish is soft and glowing.

September Song is described a a trio of "romantic blush shades" and includes an icy lavender pink, a mid-tone warm berry red, and a deep plum. Each of the shadow trios in the collection comes with different packaging- September Song's outer case is adorned with an art deco-style floral print of red, teal, purple and pink, which I think is so beautiful!

And here I am wearing both of the products in the context of a completed makeup look. I've applied Face Powder in 02 Lavender on the tops of my cheekbones, under my eyes, down the bridge of my hose, and lightly on the forehead to add brightness.

And I used all three shades from September Song to created a gradient eye look, with the berry shade all of the lid, the plum shade in the crease and outer corners, and the pale pink on the centre of the lid, inner corners of the eye, and along the brow bone.

I knew that I would swoon for the packaging of the products, but I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed the formula as well. The Face Powder worked wonderfully as a subtle brightening touch on my complexion and the Eye Colour CS has the most beautiful soft texture with a subtle glowy finish. The shadows aren't ultra pigmented at first swipe, but build up and blend quite well, work very nicely with one another, and the berry hues combined with the luminous finish looked very flattering on my brown eyes. Wins all around!

If I've piqued your interest in either of these collections, or in Paul & Joe as a brand in general, you can find both of these Fall launches in Canada at Shoppers Drug Mart!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend! xo
