All Natural, All Canadian Makeup with Maison Jacynthe!

Hi, everyone! We all know I'm an utter sucker for natural, organic skincare. My daily routine is saturated with it. When it comes to makeup, though, I've struggled to find many all-natural products that made it into my regular lineup. This is likely for two reasons: a) there are much fewer makeup than skin care options in the green beauty world and b) I am so married to several conventional beauty brands, that it's hard to move away from them. That said, I am always incredibly open to finding, testing, and welcoming natural makeup into my stash. Bring it on!

So when I was contacted by Maison Jacynthe to test out items from their brand new makeup range, I was quite intrigued! Maison Jacynthe (formerly known as Le Soins de Jacynthe) is a Canadian-based range started by actress, advocate, and healthy living guru Jacynthe Rene. The brand is 100% natural, free of toxic ingredients like petroleum, synthetic preservatives and fragrances, and GMOs. All products are scented via natural oils and plants and the brand is also cruelty-free!

Maison Jacynthe's skin care range has been established for a time now, but their makeup offerings are brand new! I received a package of three makeup goodies (plus a skin care bonus)- all tied up so cutely! I also received a full product guide and catalogue.

The products are housed in smooth cardboard packages with beautiful printed patterns. The Blushes, Bronzers, and Eye Shadows are sold in separate pans (to be inserted in the brand's custom palettes), while the Lipsticks, Mascaras, Concealers, and Eye Pencils come in complete, individual packaging.

Here are the three products I received, looking quite undeniably beautiful!

The first item I received is quite the beauty- Lipstick 04 in Cherry/Cerise** ($33 CAD). It comes in a unique tube that's a combination of lightweight metal and wood. The lipstick formula promises to be smooth, non-drying, pigmented, and long-wearing with a natural goji-berry scent. The formula is qualified as 93-100% natural, with the red pigment in the formula being the only synthetic component.

Cherry is such a beautiful colour- right up my alley! It's a rich, cool-toned berry magenta with a nearly matte finish. It's incredibly pigmented in just one swipe! The formula is creamy enough to glide over lips easily, but not so emollient that it slides and travels. I don't find the formula to be particularly hydrating but, as promised, it does not dry out lips either. The wear time is also impressive!

The second product I received was Blush 01 in Romeo** ($26 CAD)- their other blush shade is called Juliet, which makes for an adorable pairing. As I mentioned earlier, it comes in a separate pan, to be inserted into one of the brand's palettes. The blush formula promises to be long-wearing, hydrating (thanks to natural oils), and to have a smooth, silky texture for even application. It is composed of 93-95% organic ingredients.

Romeo is not the typical shade I'd reach for- it's a deep, ultra warm, terracotta red with a subtle golden sheen. It is indeed super pigmented, but buildable and blendable as promised. I was so pleasantly surprised with how flattering this shade was on my fair skin- and so perfect for Fall! To be honest, I tested out this shade to feature in this post and liked it so much that I wore it again the next day! That says a lot given my extensive blush stash. In addition to its beautiful shade, I was so impressed with the longevity of this blush. It still looked near-perfect after a full 12-hour day!

The final product I received was Eye Shadow in Irish** ($22 CAD)- each shade of the shadow range being coffee-themed. Cute! The shadows are likewise packaged in separate pans to be inserted into palettes. The Eye Shadow formula claims to be soft, pigmented, and long-wearing. The range offers 5 matte and 10 satin hues and is considered composed of 91-100% organic ingredients.

Irish is a stunning mid-tone copper with a pretty rosy golden sheen. I first noticed that the formula of this shade wasn't incredibly pigmented- it needed a few passes to build up the intensity seen in the swatch below. But the shade is so lovely, I persisted! Given that ultra pigmentation isn't the only true hallmark of a quality shadow (despite what Instagram says), I gave the shadow a try and I was so impressed with how smooth the texture felt on my eyes and how buildable the colour ways. Yes, it never reaches full opacity, but it works incredibly well as a quick, easy, all over flattering colour. Also, the wear time is so impressive! Worn over a primer (that I use with all my shadows), this shadow wore perfectly all day long.

Here are swatches of all three products on my inner arm (MAC NC15 skin tone) in natural sunlight:

And here we have the skin care extra that I received- the sweet-smelling and luxurious Vanilla Shea Butter** ($33.60 CAD). It's touted as a multi-tasking hydrating balm for lips, hair, hands, and any areas that require some instant moisture. The balm is enriched with shea oil, vanilla oleoresin, seabuckthorn oil, and essential oils of wild orange, petitgrain, and neroli. It can also be used a facial treatment mask by melting a small amount of the balm and massaging and steaming into the face with a warm washcloth. Sounds so pampering!

The balm is rich, concentrated, and deeply hydrating. It's done an amazing job at keeping my drier, cold-weather hands soft and nourished! Yes, it is a bit oily, but it eventually sinks in nicely. And the vanilla scent is beautiful!

To  finish, here I am wearing all three makeup products in a full makeup look!

Overall, I am so pleased with the makeup items I received from Maison Jacynthe! The lipstick not only offers a beautiful shade, but is also incredibly pigmented and long-wearing. The blush is super blendable despite the bold pigmentation and also wears amazingly all day long. Finally, the eye shadow feels so soft and comfortable on the eyes and, like the other products from the range, offers totally impressive wear time. It is so nice to find natural makeup that will most definitely make it into my regular routine!

  4. Even though there are so many natural makeup brands in the market, it is really hard to find one that actually delivers. Pigmentation of the products are really good, Cherry is a gorgeous colour!

  6. I love the blusher and I have the same shade however I am not the biggest fan of the lipstick. The texture feels too thick and just sits on top of my lips. :-(
