Romantic Valentine's Day Lips with Arbonne

Hi, everyone! When it comes to Valentine's Day, I have mixed feelings. Yes, I love the idea of honouring love, eating candy, and snuggling with my boo. On the other hand, I tend to roll my eyes at all of the hype and high expectations that come along with the holiday. My boyfriend and I have the annual tradition of cooking a homemade meal and watching a horror movie, which is just how I like it :)

Even though my Valentine's Days are typically low-key, it doesn't mean I skimp on the makeup. A red lip is a quick and fun way to channel your inner cupid. So when Arbonne offered to send me their classic romantic red lipstick, I was eager to oblige! Arbonne is a direct marketing company (you have to order from a brand rep) that sets itself apart by offering products that are both natural and luxurious. All of their products are vegan, cruelty-free, and packed full of effective, botanical ingredients. They are free from several unsafe and unnecessary ingredients like talc, animal by-products, parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, triclosan, synthetic dyes, and mineral oil. Impressive, indeed!

Arbonne Smoothed Over Lipsticks** ($34 CAD) promise hydration, long-wear, and rich colours. They include fruit extracts (like watermelon, lentil, and apple) to plump up the lips and create a moisturizing feel and offer a flattering, shiny satin finish. Overall, these lipsticks were designed to offer luxurious shades that improve the smoothness and hydration levels of the lips. They are also hypoallergenic, vegan, and gluten- and paraben-free.

The Smoothed Over Lipsticks come in sleek, cylindrical black plastic tubes. The lipstick bullets have a pointed tip with an Arbonne logo pressed into the top.

The shade I received was Currant**, which Arbonne describes as "the quintessential red lip that is sure to set the mood" for Valentine's day. I really have to agree that this is a quintessential red lipstick. It's perfectly neutral- not too blue or orange-, is bold, without looking overpowering, and has a beautiful finish that's not too matte, not too shiny.

As for the formula, it is absolutely wonderful! It definitely lives up to its promises of being smooth, comfortable, hydrating, and plumping. It really makes my lips look their best! And the pigmentation is exactly how I love a lipstick to be- semi-opaque in one swipe, full-on in two swipes. Perfectly buildable! Also, when blotted down, it leaves the most beautiful stain on the lips. And, as icing on the cake, the wear time really is impressive. It looks perfect for hours and fades every so elegantly.

So did Currant leave me feeling romantic? Well, yes! It is truly one of those universally flattering reds that is bold enough to create a sexy look, yet classic enough for a soft, pretty feel. Here I am wearing Currant along with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Radiant Magenta and Clinique's All About Shadow A Black Honey Affair Palette

So, yes- my Valentine's Day will include dinner with my boo, a good horror movie, and this lovely lipstick. I was impressed with every aspect of the Smoothed Over formula and Currant really is the ultimate romantic red. Here's to love and the perfect red lip!

Have a wonderful day! xo

  1. I seriously love these lipsticks. They price is a bit too high in my opinion but I love the texture of them. I have several colours and always get people asking what lipstick I'm wearing when I have them on!

    1. It's a harder to find brand, since it's kind of like Avon- you can only purchase from a brand rep. But their products definitely are worth checking out! Thanks, Gemma :)
