Black Friday/Cyber Monday Haul!

Hi, everyone! There could be so many alternative titles to this post, such as "I'm so cynical about Black Friday, yet participate in it anyways" or "I can't seem to buy presents for others without treating myself too". In sum, while I was successfully able to avoid the malls (and all the associated elbowing and tackling), the online Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales did draw me in and helped me to finally get my holiday shopping underway. In the process, I scored some good deals for myself too, so I thought I'd share them here!

I've ordered one Fabletics outfit in the past and felt a bit wishy washy about it, but since that time, the affordable active wear line has been releasing some amazing, bold prints that have been tempting me in a huge way. Wearing vibrant pants to yoga makes me feel extra fierce! I'd been holding off for months, but when Fabletics was offering up to 70% off on Black Friday, I finally pulled the trigger. I picked up:

Fabletics Camacan Capri Black/Tropical Print Capri (60% off)
This tropical print has been the one that appealed to me most, but I thought it might be a *touch* too overwhelming all over. SO I picked the Camacan design, which trims the capris in a flattering way.
Fabletics Salar Capri Chevron Print (70% off)
These are a slightly older pattern, but have been tempting me since they were released. Love the colour combo and with that discount, I could not pass up!

While Amazon was not having a sale, they offer free shipping and great deals on books and movies (which I picked up for my family, shhhh!), so I used this as an opportunity to pick up Lisa Eldridge's Face Paint. This book could not be more perfect- I'm a huge history buff and the evolution of makeup trends over the centuries is so fascinating to me. Plus, Lisa Eldridge has to be my favourite makeup artist, so it's a match made in makeup heaven!

Over the Black Friday weekend, The Bay was offering 10% off all Beauty, and I originally placed an order to score my much-loved Kiehl's Daily Skin-Clearing Treatment (which I could not find anywhere else- I think it's being discontinued- it still hasn't been shipped- nooo!), but to qualify for free shipping I added another goody to the basket. Since MAC never goes on sale anywhere else, I decided to choose their Satin Lipstick in Brave, a beautiful, versatile mauve nude pink.

The final sale that I could not resist was from The Detox Market, who was offering $30 off $200 purchases. Not the most epic sale ever, but I did have to re-stock several faves, so I used this as an opportunity to do so, while testing a few other treats. I did purchase one item for my friend (again, my lips are sealed!), but for myself, I chose:

Odacite Jojoba Lavender Serum Concentrate (Clogged Pores)
I've gone through two bottles of this in the past and it's wonderful stuff! Keeps my skin both calm and clear, which is much needed for me at the moment.

Odacite Mature+Aging Capillaries Duo- Wild Carrot (Vital Glow) and Apricot Palmarosa (Fragile Capillaries)
The other two Odacite Serum Concentrates that my skin likes best are the Apricot Palmarosa (great for calming redness) and the Wild Carrot (gives a beautiful glow without breaking me out), and they fortuitously come in a bundle that is saves you an extra 10%. Score!

Ilia Tinted Lip Conditioner in Wild Child
I am a giant fan of Ilia's lip products, which feature top-notch natural ingredients, stunning, vivid colours, and comfortable textures. As soon as I saw a swatch of Wild Child, I knew it had to be mine! It's a lovely sheer red that will be perfect for the holidays.

Taza Cinnamon and Salted Almond Chocolate Mexicano
Dark chocolate is one of my biggest weaknesses (and one that's almost guilt-free) and I'm a sucker for natural, artisinal varieties. I'd been curious about Taza's offerings, so I thought this sale would be the perfect opportunity to give this Mexican-inspired chocolate a go!

So there you have it, the fact that I can't resist a sale, even when shopping for others is my main priority. Whoops! I am truly thrilled with everything I picked up, however, so I have no complaints! I'd write a more thorough conclusion, but I think I'm off to eat some of that chocolate now.... ;)

Did you score any great deals of Black Friday? Have you tried any of the items I featured here? Did I tempt you with anything? Do you also treat yourself while shopping for others?

Thanks for stopping by! xo

  6. We avoided the mall too and bought everything through Amazon.ca this year. The deliveries were super quick and we're super impressed so I think we'll be shopping through Amazon in the future. I had no idea Face Paint is available through Amazon, I'm going to check it!

  7. Such an awesome haul! I almost got sucked into the Fabletics sale, but managed to save myself. I LOVE their workout pants, they are one of the only brands that doesn't fall down while I wear them. I really should've ordered... I've just been spending so much on gifts that it seemed crazy to order more. Maybe they'll have a boxing day sale!
