Look of the Day: Fringe Creature

Hi, everyone! I hope you all had a super fun weekend! I spent a portion of it hibernating with a migraine (this stupid, damp weather), but things ended nicely last night when we celebrated Rosh Hashanah with my boyfriend's family. Much delicious New Year's food to be enjoyed! I have a busy week ahead, so I'm hoping that the festivities had some restorative powers and that my head behaves over the coming days.

In keeping with the theme of my latest Lip Stash by Hue post, today's Look of the Day features another Fall-perfect vampy lip shade that recently joined my stash via my epic Colour Pop order. No other than the deep and dramatic (yet perfectly wearable) Lippie Stix in Creature

Yesterday was my first time testing out Creature since I received it and I was not disappointed! Yes, I could have benefited from applying a touch of lip balm first (the colour did get a bit patchy as the day went on), but everything else about the lip colour was a pleasure. Creature is a gorgeous blackened berry plum that I find to be a slightly darker relative to my much-loved MAC Rebel. The pigmentation was full-on with one swipe and it did wonders to get me in an Autumn mood!

Since the lips were the focus, I kept the eyes simple. I swept the beautiful, glimmery ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Fringe all over my lids, as well as underneath the lower lash lines and on the inner corners as a highlight. It gave my eyes a cool golden twinkle without looking overly frosty or glittery. I wanted an eyeliner to give some definition without the harshness of black, so I reached for the Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Stone Fox, a unique blue-tinged charcoal.

On the cheeks, I opted for ColourPop Super Shock Blush in Fruit Stand, a matte vivid coral red. While a warm, vibrant shade of blush wouldn't intuitively work with such a dark berry lip, I think Fruit Stand and Creature worked pretty wonderfully together! I finished the look by sweeping ColourPop's Super Shock Highlighter in Highly Waisted on my cheek bones and down the bridge of my nose and upped the radiance factor even further with a few spritzes of my much-loved Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist

The Breakdown:

Foundation: MAC ProLongwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation in NC15 (sample)
Concealer: Cle de Peau Concealer in Ivory

Powder: Rimmel Stay Matte Long-Wearing Pressed Powder in 011 Creamy Natural (on t-zone) and Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light (lightly all over)

Blush: ColourPop Super Shock Cheek in Fruit Stand
Highlighter: ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter in Highly Waisted

Brows: Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Taupe and Tinted Brow Gel in Caramel

Primer: Urban Decay Primer Potion Original formula
Eye Shadows: ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Fringe (all over lid, blended up to the brow bone and underneath the lower lash lines)

Eyeliner: Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Stone Fox
Mascara: The HotShop Long Lash Mascara (from the Born Pretty Store)

Lipstick: ColourPop Lippie Stix in Creature

And a few more shots of the look:

Overall, I'm super pleased that ColourPop Creature  has joined the lineup of vampy lip colours in my stash. It's deep enough to create some drama, yet the berry undertones still add a touch of life and vibrancy to the complexion. There was a definite chill in the air yesterday, and along with a cozy sweater, Creature was the perfect accompaniment to the fresh Fall air.

What lip shades to you reach for when the temperatures get cooler? Is Creature a shade that you'd wear? Have you tried any of the ColourPop Lippie Stix

Have a fantastic week! xo

  14. That lipstick shade looks like it's made specially for you, it's really stunning! It's so strange that as the season changed, I noticed myself starting to love deep berry shades, never understood the whole seasonal makeup colours/trends back when I was living in Malaysia so it's interesting to see this happening to me now.

I'm a little scared to touch blush because I'm not sure if I can apply it correctly lol
