Bobbi Brown Does Luxe Lips

Hi, everyone! So I was on a successful 5-week makeup no-buy(!), minding my own business, when Bobbi Brown went ahead and released a brand new lipstick range that was utterly impossible to resist. My will had been so strong, forsaking multitudes of makeup goodies for over a month, but some things are simply too beautiful and tempting to ignore.

What wicked temptresses am I talking about? None other than the Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colours. This new range of lipsticks promises the brand's "boldest, most vibrant colour ever" (you had me at vibrant) that works to hydrate and condition the lips even after removal. It also vows to smooth fine lines while also providing full colour coverage in just one swipe. Is there really anything more to ask of a perfect lipstick? While we all know I'm a sucker for mattes, there's something about the chilling temperatures that makes me want to cozy up with a lipstick that's both pigmented and hydrating. A true treat for the lips!

The Luxe Lip Colours come in classic Bobbi Brown packaging, black with white lettering. The boxes feature a full ingredient listing, which is a plus! Peeking through the list, you can spot peptides (anti-aging superstars) and Vitamin E (a basic, effective moisturizer), which support the claims that these lipsticks are ultra lip-loving.

The tubes are definitely chic-looking. They come in a reflective cooler gold finish with black accents and a Bobbi Brown logo etched into the top. They are certainly weightier than other lipsticks from the brand I've tried (which definitely ups the luxe feel), though I'm pretty sure these are made from sturdy plastic, as opposed to metal.

Even the bullets of the Luxe Lip Colours look incredibly polished and sophisticated. It's hard to put a finger on it, but the angles just look so crisp and clean!

The Luxe Lip Colour Range offers an impressive 30 shades, and of course my penchant for brights went straight for the corals, hot pinks, and deep berries. As I was breaking my no-buy to purchase one, however, I wanted to be as practical as possible (as practical as one can be when they already own 100 lipsticks, eek). So instead, I opted for a versatile, everyday, flattering nude shade that could bring just a touch of glam to my work day makeup.

I ended up selecting Pink Nude, which Bobbi Brown describes as a "pale nude pink". To me, Pink Nude definitely leans warm and features both pink and peachy undertones. While it certainly is in the nude family, it is several notches more saturated than those in the "concealer lips/corpse" category.

Here is Pink Nude swatched on my inner arm (MAC NC15 skin tone). This is just one swipe of the lipstick, so you can see just how pigmented it is!

And here are a couple shots of me wearing Pink Nude in the context of an entire makeup look. As you can see, the coverage is opaque, but with a creamy, satin finish.

So what are my thoughts on the formula? It's truly heavenly stuff! The pigmentation of the Luxe Lip Colours is out of this world- one swipe gives full coverage. Despite this, it does not feel the least bit heavy on the lips. The texture is incredibly moisturizing, yet it grips well to the lips and does not streak or smudge easily. Yes, it does transfer (my water glass is definite proof), but because the pigmentation is so dense, it really takes a full meal to leave the colour faded. So yes, this is a moisturizing lipstick that is also pigmented and long-wearing. A hard combination to find!

As for Pink Nude specifically, I think it's an ultra sophisticated shade that's incredibly easy to wear. It pairs well with a toned-down neutral work day look (as above), but would also look completely stunning with a bold smokey or colourful eye. Finding a nude lipstick that doesn't wash out my complexion is constantly a struggle, but Pink Nude is definitely an exception!

It's gonna take a hella lotta willpower to not snag several more lipsticks from this line, but given that they also have a luxe price tag ($41 CAD), I'll do my best to pace myself! :)

Are you tempted by this new lipstick launch by Bobbi Brown? What is your favourite creamy, moisturizing lipstick formula? Is Pink Nude a shade that you'd wear?

Have a fantastic weekend! xo

Love this shade though; it's a super flattering peach, though I'm not really a fan of the packaging...and the price, ahahaha.
