Simple Summery Look: Blue + Orange

Hi, everyone! The temperatures this weekend have me convinced- Summer is throwing its hat into the ring! What does that mean for my makeup routine? Number of products, down. Vibrancy of colour, up! So I thought I'd share with you a super quick Summery look that packs a colour punch without a multitude of products.

I decided to pair a couple of hues that might get you sweating a bit- blue and orange in the same look? crazy talk!, you might exclaim- but I promise that the colour combination is as wearable as it is fun.

For the skin, I opted for a matte finish foundation (gotta keep the shinies away when the temperatures rise!), but with a natural look, Maybelline's Dream Wonder Liquid Touch Foundation. Since the colour was concentrated on the eyes and lips, I created a warm, but balanced flush on the cheeks courtesy of Milani Luminoso

As for the eyes, ultra simple. I swept The Body Shop Colour Crush Eye Shadow in Boyfriend Jeans all over the lid, blending it up to the crease. I also applied it to the outer half of my lower lash line for an extra pop of colour. Then I finished things off with an ivory highlight on the brow bone and inner corners (The Body Shop Colour Crush in Oh, Honey) and two coats of an ultra lengthening mascara, The HotShop's Long Lash Mascara from the Born Pretty Store.

Finally, I painted my pout with perhaps the perfect summer lip colour, Milani Colour Statement Lipstick in Sweet Nectar. It's a bold tangerine orange with a soft satin finish that prevents the bold hue from looking too harsh. I got both Boyfriend Jeans and Sweet Nectar in my recent epic makeup swap with my Canadian Beauty Blogger gals and am loving them both!

The Breakdown:

Foundation: Maybelline Dream Wonder Liquid Touch Foundation in #15 Ivory
Concealer: Cle de Peau Concealer in Ivory

Powder: Inglot HD Illuminizing Pressed Powder #402

Bronzer: The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder in Fair Matte 02
Blush: Milani Baked Powder Blush in Luminoso

Brows: Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Taupe and Tinted Brow Gel in Caramel

Primer: Urban Decay Primer Potion Original formula
Eye Shadows: The Body Shop Colour Crush Eye Shadows in Boyfriend Jeans (all over lid, blended up to crease, and on outer half of lower lash line) and Oh, Honey (on brow bone and inner corners as a highlight)

Mascara: HotShop Long Lash Mascara (from the Born Pretty Store)

Lipstick:
Milani Colour Statement Lipstick in Sweet Nectar

And a few more shots of the look:

I know I say this a lot about the products I'm featuring, but I really think both Boyfriend Jeans and Sweet Nectar will be finding their way into my regular Summer makeup rotation. The soft indigo shimmer of Boyfriend Jeans is totally wearable and Sweet Nectar is a delectable treat for those who love orange lips. And you gotta love products that pack a punch on their own so you can keep things simple in the Summer heat!

What are your favourite colour combinations for Summertime? Are you a fan of blue eyes and/or orange lips?

Thanks for dropping by! xo

  9. Hey Jenn, what a fun look! I've done blue and orange, but usually it's just a navy blue eyeliner. I've really been bitten by the blue/teal/turquoise bug lately tho. Might have to give something like this a go soon :)
