The Weekend Skin Care Lineup

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a fantastic weekend! I just submitted an initial draft of my dissertation in all its 125-page glory. Like giving birth, seriously! While I wait for my supervisor's feedback, the rest of the weekend is all about relaxation. I really need it!

Vent over, let's get into the meat of this post! Last weekend I headed to my hometown for the weekend to celebrate my little sister's baby shower (speaking of giving birth). Yes, I'm going to be an auntie next month and I couldn't be more excited! While I'm sure I will be gushing over that fact quite a bit over the coming weeks, today's entry is all about the small, potent little lineup of skin care products that I brought with me for my weekend away. Here's a peek at the goods!

Looking at the goodies, you may notice two things: 1) the majority of products are of a natural, organic persuasion, which we all know has been my serious obsession lately and 2) there are no foaming or gel cleansers in sight! Last week marked a bold experiment to go a whole 7 days without touching my face with anything sudsy or stripping. I was oil and/or balm cleansing both day and night and I have to say my skin did not freak out as I thought it would! While there is serious comfort in foaming cleansers and the traditional "clean" feeling they give to the face, my skin has been somewhat dehydrated lately and I've been wanting to use a gentler touch. I have reverted back to some foamy options on occasion this week, but much less often. I'm pretty sure my skin is happy with this change!

Ok, onto the good stuff! In the morning, I started by massaging a few drops of Living Libations Seabuckthorn Best Skin Ever** onto my dry face, then removing it with a warm, damp, soft face cloth. I have to say that this stuff is pretty fantastic! The scent is intoxicating, it calms my skin nicely, and leaves my complexion hydrated without a heavy greasy feeling. Plus, it's packed with amazing ingredients like jojoba oil, virgin coconut oil, and grapefruit. I'd then follow up with a spritz of the ultra gentle Pai Lotus & Orange Blossom Bioaffinity Skin Tonic and then smooth on my current serum of choice, the Nourish Relax Hydrating Peptide Serum. As I proclaimed here, this serum is seriously amazing at calming my finicky skin and providing a light layer of moisture. I'd then finish things off with a mix of the Pai Chamomile & Rosehip Hydrating Day Cream and the Odacite Apricot + Palmarosa Serum Concentrate. Both are ultra gentle and super hydrating and worked wonders to further soothe my skin! My evening routine was identical, except I started by using my go-to makeup remover, The Body Shop's Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter. As I shamelessly stated in my February Favourites, this is the best budget makeup remover on the market!

So there you have it- my travel-friendly, ultra soothing, mostly natural skin care lineup of the moment. Are there any products here that you'd like me to review more fully? What are your skin care staples at the moment?

Thanks for stopping by! xo

  4. Great job, girl! You deserve a lot of R&R!

I've been trying the same Pai day cream, although I use it both day and night. I am hoping it will help prevent my skin's annual spring freak-out. I've also been loving the new Chanel hydrating serum. I wonder if it will replace the Caudalie one when my skin is acting up!
