February Empties!

Hi, everyone! February was quite the busy month, but I still managed to round up a decent stash of empties over these last four weeks. Not the biggest bunch I've ever polished off, but I did empty out a few staples (including two- TWO- foundations) while testing a handful of other exciting goodies. Here's a shot of the lot, followed by my thoughts on each!

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser (sample)
I received this as a sample from Sephora. Basic, low-foaming, gentle cleanser. Didn't over-strip my skin, but was fairly bland and basic. Nothing about the formula made me want to use it again!
Repurchase? No.

Sisley Creamy Mask with Tropical Resins (sample)
I sampled this a while back and remembered being super impressed. Thought I'd snag another sample before picking up a product with such a hefty price tag. This is an ultra nice deep cleansing mask that calms redness and doesn't dry out my skin. But, after the second time around, the results just didn't warrant a splurge. I'll stick with my (expensive, but less so) Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Mask.
Repurchase? No.

Verso Foaming Cleanser (sample)
I had been very eager to try out this brand, so was happy to receive a sample of this in my most recent Cult Beauty order. This cleaned well with only a light foaming action and had a pleasant smell and texture. Might have dried out my skin slightly.
Repurchase? No. If I were to splurge on something from this line, it would be one of the serums, not this!

Odacite Apricot + Palmarosa Serum Concentrate for Fragile Capillaries
I featured this in my January Favourites and with good reason! The smell is divine, a little goes a long way, it never broke me out, and it did calm my skin nicely. These bottles promise a month of twice-daily use; mine lasted about 6 weeks or so, using it 1-2 times per day.
Repurchase? Will definitely consider it! I might try their serum designed for sensitive skin and compare the effects first.

Sunday Riley Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer in Light
I picked this up in NYC last winter and have been using it on and off all year. In sum, it was quite good! Evened out skin tone subtly, lightly hydrated, and allowed foundation to smooth on quite nicely. Plus, it never broke me out!
Repurchase? I just might!

Pai Geranium & Thistle Rebalancing Day Cream
I bought this at the Green + Good Pop-Up Shop this past Spring and haven't regretted it for a second! This moisturizer kept my skin matte and balanced without any tightness, heaviness, or greasiness. It blends with face oils wonderfully and doesn't irritate my acne-prone, sensitive skin.
Repurchase? May sample other day creams for the moment, but can see myself coming back to this one!

Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet Smooth Effect Makeup in B10
I finished a foundation that wasn't ColourStay?!? It's a miracle! Really, it speaks to how much I loved this foundation. It feels lightweight, gives lovely medium coverage, and has a flattering luminous matte finish. Did cling slightly to dry patches during this frigid winter, but that's my only issue.
Repurchase? In the summertime- yes!

Pai Lotus & Orange Blossom BioAffinity Skin Tonic
I purchased this as part of a Pai trial kit and was eager to give it a try. This smelled very nice and didn't irritate my skin. At the same time, though, it didn't do anything special either. I'll stick to my Jurlique or May Lindstrom if I'm going to splurge on a toner.
Repurchase? No.

Revlon ColourStay Whipped Creme Makeup in Buff
Not much else I can say about this- ColourStay is my all-time favourite foundation! I prefer the Whipped Creme version for wintertime, as it's slightly more hydrating than the liquid version. Gives medium to full coverage without looking cakey and wears true all day.
Repurchase? Already had a backup!

CoLab Dry Shampoo Rio (travel size)
I feel like a went through this stuff super quickly! The tin is quite small, but perhaps this is a testament to how much you have to use to achieve the desired effect. Yes, this smells lovely and is ultra handy due to the minimal residue left in hair. But you definitely have to spray quite a bit if you want some oomph!
Repurchase? No, but I'm curious to try her volumizing range!

So there you have it, the goodies I polished off in February. Only a fraction ended up as clear winners, but that's okay- I can't afford to love and purchase everything I try!

What did you finish up in February? Did I tempt you with anything?

Thanks for stopping by! xo

  1. Great post Jen! I haven't tried any Colab products and I am glad I have read your opinion on the travel size dry shampoo. Chanel foundations always have positive reviews. I am yet to try one.

  4. Oh wow, I respect you for having that much empties, I've never done any empties post because I hog so much makeup and can barely finish any. LOL! Glad to read about CoLab dry shampoo, I have been extremely curious about it.

  6. You won't go wrong with VERSO products! I highly recommend the Night Cream. It has been a great help in keeping my skin in check for the past couple of months! :)

It must feel so good to finish a foundation. With so many great ones coming out, it's hard to stay loyal to any one of them! Good job! :D

I do hope there's a another green pop up shop this year, because THIS YEAR I'LL TOTALLY BE EQUIPPED WITH BRAND KNOWLEDGE. I really need to get my hands on some Pai and Odacite goodies!
