Look of the Day: Extravagant Glamour

Hi, everyone! At the end of December I was lucky enough to win a super fun makeup giveaway from Jenn at A Beautiful Zen. We met a few weeks ago so I could pick up the prize (and do some shopping!) and I gushed about my winnings in a recent post, here. The prize was the Make Up For Ever Extravagant Glamour set, which featured three goodies aimed at creating the perfect festive, glamorous look. I finally put the kit to good use and here are the results:

The kit included a beautiful, classic red lipstick, Rouge Artist Intense #43 Moulin Rouge (the star of the show, in my opinion), a pigmented, long-wearing black liner, Aqua Eyes Pencil 0L, and Extravagant Smokey Mascara, aimed at giving the lashes some serious drama.

#43 Moulin Rouge is a stunning satiny red with slight pinky undertones. To me, it just screams Marilyn Monroe! Can't go wrong with that, really. Because of the instant pin-up feel, I decided to create a classic eye look as well. I opted for soft, shimmery shades of ivory and champagne shadow (courtesy of the cheap and cheerful Wet N' Wild Walking On Eggshells Colour Icon Trio) and winged out the Aqua Eyes 0L for that '50s starlet look. I finished the eyes with two generous coats of the Extravagant Smokey Mascara. While it's not my favourite formula (didn't do much to keep my lashes curled or separated), it pulled its weight by offering great length and volume.

To complement the goodies from the kit, I went with a sculpted cheek (Bourjois Delice de Poudre #51 to contour and BeneFit Watt's Up to highlight my cheekbones) and my favourite pinky peach blush, NARS Deep Throat. I also curled my hair a bit for some extra glam factor. It finished the look nicely!

Here's another shot of the look, followed by a full breakdown of everything I used:

The Breakdown:

Foundation: Revlon ColourStay Foundation (Combination/Oily formula) in Buff
Concealer: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Concealer in Y1
Powder: Revlon ColourStay Pressed Powder in Light

Bronzer: Bourjois Delice de Poudre #51
Blush: NARS Powder Blush in Deep Throat

Highlighter: BeneFit Watt's Up (on cheekbones and down bridge of nose)

Brows: Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Ash Blonde
Primer: NARS Smudge Proof Eye Shadow Base
Eye Shadows: Wet N' Wild Colour Icon Trio in Walking on Eggshells (ivory shade all over lid, up to brow, champagne pink shade on lid up to the crease, chocolate shade lightly in the crease)

Eyeliner: Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes 0L
Mascara: Make Up For Ever Smokey Extravagant Mascara in Black

Lips: Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense #43 Moulin Rouge

And a few more shots of the look:

So there you have it! I'm always up for channeling my inner '50s pin-up and the Make Up For Ever Extravagant Glamour kit helped me do that so easily! The lipstick is such a keeper (my new go-to Marilyn red) and the Aqua Eyes liner is a great alternative to my Revlon Liquid Eye Pen when I want a bold black line but would prefer to use a pencil. Can' wait for the next opportunity to feel extravagantly glamorous :)

Thanks again to Jenn for the lovely prize!

Thanks for reading, everyone :)
