Beauty Resolution #2: Moisturize that Body!

Happy weekend, y'all! A few days ago, I posted the first of my Beauty Resolutions, the enormous yet exciting challenge of putting a moratorium on new lip purchases for the coming year. While that task will undoubtedly be my central resolution, I thought it would be a good time to consider some other beauty habits I'd like to brush up on in 2014. So for the second installment:

Resolution #2: Give my body lotions, butters, and creams more of a workout!

So, we all get lazy sometimes. One of the beauty realms in which I'm perpetually lazy is that brief period following a shower when you know your skin could use some extra hydration, but you'd much rather slip on a robe and some socks and get cozy than take the extra few seconds to moisturize. Or, because I've wasted too much time blog reading over breakfast, my post-shower time frame is too rushed to take that extra step. Well, no more!

I have so many lovely body potions in my stash, and really want to make an effort to use them on the regular. Though my complexion is on the oily side, my limbs do get quite dry (especially during an Arctic-like winter such as this one), so more moisture is definitely needed! Applying body lotion literally takes two minutes, so I want to make it a habit!

To motivate me to stick with this resolution, I've gathered some of my favourite body hydrators to remind myself of what I've been missing. The Body Shop Body Butters have been a perpetual favourite of mine (their Cocoa Butter and Coconut offerings are heavenly) and their Olive Body Butter is currently gracing my stash. I bought it last summer when I was looking for a light, fresh scent, but it is equally lovely to use during the winter months as well! Another fresh, fruity scented lotion is Agronatura's Latte Corpo al Neroli, a stunning Italian organic number that made me realize that neroli is one of my favourite natural perfumes. Hand care is also super crucial this time of year (my mitts get so parched!), so I recently picked up a handbag-sized version of Soap & Glory's Hand Food, which has been keeping my hands happily soft. It has a great fruity scent too!

The past year also brought the truly divine Caudalie Divine Oil into my life. The scent is sophisticated and sexy and the formula melts so effortlessly into my skin. It's products like this that remind me why moisturizing my limbs can be such a treat! Tval also recently scent me a lovely selection of body products. Two of my favourites are the Pumpkin Marshmallow Skin Smoothie*, a light, creamy concoction of sweet, spicy goodness (featured here) and the Ginger Fig Whipped Body Butter, a rich sophisticated cream that offers some serious hydration! Bath & Body Works is like heaven for bath-lovers, but the amount of scents they offer can be overwhelming. Luckily, I've pinned down my favourite, their Midnight Pomegranate range. It smells of black cherries and musk and the Body Lotion provides the perfect amount of moisture!

If I'm going to use this resolution post as a forum for raving about my favourite body hydrators, there are a few others that deserve mention. I'd be remiss to omit Aesop's incredible Rejuvenate Intensive Body Balm, which is the only body cream I've really been using regularly this year. The tube is nearly finished! It smells of tangerine, vanilla, and sandalwood (sweet, spicy goodness) and hydrates intensely without a greasy feel. It's tops in my book! It's also a rare occasion that I do not have any Lush products in my body stash, so I wanted to also give a shout-out to their Sympathy for the Skin hand and body lotion (vanilla! bananas! yummy!) which I've been using for years and their Therapy Massage Bar (another neroli treat) that I tend to use as a hydrator on my driest bits.

So there you go! This resolution will not feature a lengthy list of itemized guidelines (as was needed for my lip product no-buy; I need all the structure and help I can get for that one!), but I thought that just publishing my general intention to put these body products to good use would help me to realize that taking those extra couple minutes post-shower is so worth it!

Are you lazy like me when it comes to moisturizing? What are some of your favourite body creams, lotions, and potions?

Thanks for reading! xo

* These products were sent to me as PR samples from Tval. Thanks again for the lovely treats!

  1. I never moisturize my body and here in sweden the weather is freaking cold so I definitely have to pay more attention to that too. I'd love to try the pumpkin marshmellows skin smoothie.. because the name sounds delicious x

  9. That's definitely a good resolution! When I lived in Guelph, I moisturised all the time and have since continued! If I don't moisturise now, my skin gets all dry and sad.
