Look of the Day: Merlot, Amour

Hi, everyone! NARS Amour Powder Blush has been the apple of my eye for some time. It provides an incredible, flattering warm rosy flush that makes me feel alive and, well, amorous! I was going to do a Look of the Day featuring it solely, but I recently purchased a new lipstick that seems to be its perfect mate. So I'm putting both in the spotlight!

NYX Matte Lipstick in Merlot is a rich, velvety, slightly cool shade that falls somewhere between fuchsia and burgundy. It embodies the vampy-lips-for-Fall trend quite nicely, while still being bright enough to liven up my face. The finish, as the name suggests, is quite matte, but it feels very nice on the lips. And the staying power is phenomenal!

Even though Amour leans quite warm-toned and Merlot is rather cool, I find they harmonize nicely to give an overall rosy, cheery tone to the face. I think it's a makeup look that embodies my overall style quite well- fresh and feminine, with a bit of an edge.

To contrast the bold cheek and matte lip, I opted for a sheerer, more glowy foundation, my brand new Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. I added a shimmery rosy glow to the eyes as well (thanks to the frugal, yet wonderful Wet N' Wild Eye Shadow Trio in Walking on Eggshells), and I finished things off with a gentle stroke of winged liner and lots of mascara!

And that's it! My love for NARS Amour blush is no secret, and I'm thrilled to find a new lipstick that complements it so nicely. NYX Matte Lipstick in Merlot is rich, flattering, and really perfect for Fall. Can't rave about it more!
