Gatsby-Inspired Birthday Present: The Julep May Boho Glam Box

Hi, everyone! As I've mentioned (maybe one too many times), last month I celebrated the Big 3-0. My friends did so much to make the day incredibly special. Couldn't have asked for a better day! And presents, well, they're great too! ;)

A couple weeks before my birthday, I was delighted to find a package addressed to me waiting outside my door. This Spring, my nail polish-loving cousin introduced me to Julep, an incredible brand offering top-notch formulas and an amazing range of shades. To read more about them, check out my previous post on the super pretty Julep Jennifer

Being instantly hooked on the brand, I was super intrigued by the Gatsby-inspired offerings from their Jazz Collection last month. I'm always game for flapper-style roaring '20s motifs and a good literary reference and as soon as my cousin caught whiff that I was interested, she immediately offered to pick me up one of Julep's May Jazz Collection gift boxes for my birthday. Amazingly sweet and thoughtful of her!

Flush with anticipation, I quickly opened the package to reveal the glitzy, elegant cards displaying a photo of the contents and a witty little quote from George Gershwin pictured above. Beneath these cards was a very sweet birthday note from my aunt, uncle, and cousins.

Before I got to the makeup goodies inside, I was greeted with a package of beautiful rosette-topped bobby pins. An unexpected, girly touch!

Further digging revealed a bow-wrapped parcel and the lovely New York Jazz Lipstick Trio:

The New York Jazz Lipstick Trio is housed in a art deco-style black box with gilded lettering and detailing. So chic and beautiful!

The set features three mini lipsticks, listed and described in the photo above. There's Tea for Two (a "sheer nude shimmer"), Satin Doll (a "sheer poppy"), and Lady in Red (a "matte crimson"). I won't swatch them here, since I'm planning a separate review of the set, but you can see below how lovely the little gold tubes look nestled inside the box:

Opening the parcel beside the lipstick trio revealed two beautiful nail polishes, also from the Jazz Collection:

Included were Alice (an "antique lilac shimmer") and Millie (a "vintage indigo creme"). I've been loving pale purple and rich blue-toned polishes lately, so I couldn't have been happier with these! And I couldn't help but love the shade names! While I don't think Alice and Millie are Gatsby characters (please correct me if I'm wrong), I found them to perfectly embody a 1920s feel. Images of flapper dresses, feathers, and bob haircuts instantly come to mind :)

I've done one manicure with Alice already and it's absolutely lovely! Hope to feature a Nail of the Day with it soon. And I think Millie will be the perfect luxe indigo shade for fall. Can't wait to give it a go!

Now here's one final look of the entire set:

And that's it! Overall, I couldn't be happier with the Julep May Boho Glam Box full of all its Jazz Collection goodies. The perfect way to channel my inner flapper! Thanks again to my aunt, uncle, and cousins for such a thoughtful gift! xo

Have you tried any Julep nail polishes or lipsticks? Would love to hear your favourites! xo
