Look of the Day: She's a Rainbow

Hi, everyone! Happy Canada Day! This weekend not only celebrates my beautiful country, but here in Toronto it also celebrates Pride- a festival of love, inclusion, progress, strength, and unity. I am so very proud to live in a country where true freedom is celebrated and civil rights are honoured and continue to expand. Especially with all of the chaos, hate, and xenophobia happening south of the border and across the pond, I find myself especially lucky to be Canadian!

This weekend I'll be celebrating Toronto Pride with my blogger friends, where we will be partying in the Village and where I will be standing as a proud ally to the LGBTQ community. Inspired by the spirit of this weekend, I am here to share with you some rainbow-coloured makeup that I hope captures my proud spirit.

The look is somewhat inspired by a recent Pin I came across, which you can find, here

The rainbow eyes were all about the Kat von D. Mi Vida Loca Remix Eye Shadow Palette. To intensify the shades (not that they need much help in the area of pigmentation), I first applied NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk (a stark white) all over my lids, up to the brow bone. I then started by applying the red from the palette, eye shadow in Destroyer to the inner corner of my eye (above the tear duct to avoid a red eye look) drawing upwards in a diagonal direction. I continued in rainbow order with orange (Analogue), yellow (Fran, which I also applied to my tear duct and along the inner portion of my lower lash line), green (Misfit, also applied to the centre of my lower lash line), blue (Synth), and purple (Anthem), which I applied to the outer corners and along the outer portion of the lower lash line). For eyeliner, I used YSL's stunning Faux Cils Shocking liquid liner in Deep Green, and finished things off with a couple coats of the amazing Essence Forbidden Volume Mascara

For the skin, I kept things glowy by mixing Clinique's Even Better Foundation with Chanel Les Begies liquid foundation and setting things with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural powder and a few spritzes of Tatcha's Luminous Dewy Skin Mist. I reached for my favourite orange blush, MAC Satin Blush in Modern Mandarin and MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade to highlight. For the lips, I reached for my favourite proud, patriotic red in Nudestix Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil in Royal

Mi Vida Loca Eye Shadow Palette): Destroyer (red shade on top, inner corner), Analogue (orange), Fran (yellow, applied also to inner corners and inner portion of the lower lash line), Misfit (green, also applied to centre of the lower lash line), Synth (blue), and Anthem (purple, applied to outer corners and outer half of lower lash line)

I hope all have a wonderful long weekend! Cheers to Pride!

  1. Such bold eyeshadow and it looks lovely on you! Don't think I could recreate this look on myself - it just wouldn't look good, plus I don't own any really bold eye makeup! Have a lovely weekend! x
