Look of the Day: Mint, Cinnamon, and Tiramisu

Hi, everyone! Over the past year, one of the most gratifying aspects of blogging has been connecting with fellow local beauty bloggers. There are few things better than getting together with like-minded makeup enthusiasts and totally geeking out. Common ground and no judgment! Recently, our Toronto-based blogger clan has undertaken a couple of epic swaps that I was happy to take part in last month. The first I featured here and the second took place with Julie, Kaitlyn, and Liz last weekend. I scored an amazing bevy of gorgeous goodies (see below) and quickly used them to create the makeup look I'm featuring today!

One of the products I snagged in the swap was MAC's Pure Sculpture Pro Sculpting Cream. It's designed to be a cream contour product, but I found it to be quite warm for this purpose. As a cream bronzer, however, it's beautiful! I applied the Sculpting Cream to the hollows of my cheeks, blending up to the temples and the top of my forehead. I also received NYX Powder Blush in Cinnamon, which is a killer tawny orange red that's perfect for Summertime! I applied Cinnamon on the apples of my cheeks, blending up to the hairline.

To contrast the ultra-warm cheeks, I reached for Coastal Scents' Go Palette in London, which features a beautiful selection of cool pastels and rich jewel tones. I applied the purple shades across my lids and a matte brown in my crease to ground and sculpt the look. For the piece de resistance, I swept the ultra pigmented mint green shade from London along my lower lash line, which created the most gorgeous pop of colour!

On the lips, I reached for one of my most exciting new swap goodies, NYX Butter Gloss in Tiramisu. I was already sold on the Butter Gloss formula, owning and loving a few already, and Tiramisu is an ultra wearable creamy nude pink that complemented the bold cheeks and eyes amazingly well.

Here's a shot of all the products I received in this makeup swap, followed by a full breakdown of everything that went into this look:

The Breakdown:

Foundation: Clinique Perfectly Real Foundation in #1 Ivory
Concealer: Cle de Peau Concealer in Ivory

Powder: Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot (on t-zone) and Inglot HD Illuminizing Pressed Powder #402 (lightly all over)

Bronzer: MAC Pure Sculpture Pro Sculpting Cream
Blush: NYX Powder Blush in Cinnamon

Brows: Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Taupe and Tinted Brow Gel in Caramel

Primer: Urban Decay Primer Potion Original formula
Eye Shadows: (From the Coastal Scents Go Palette in London) mix of lavender and pink shades on the lid, deep eggplant shade on outer corner, matte brown in the crease, mint green shade along lower lash line and Essence Cookies & Creme Eye Shadow in Macaron, C'est Bon! on brow bone and inner corners as a highlight

Eyeliner: Tarte modernEyes Waterproof Creaseless Shadow/Liner Duo in Plumberry/Plum Brown (liner end)
Mascara: Givenchy Noir Couture 4-in-1 Mascara in Black
Lipstick: NYX Butter Gloss in Tiramisu

And a few more shots of the look:

I was so eager to put my swap earnings to good use and, wow, none of them disappointed! I am beyond smitten with the minty green shade from the Coastal Scents London palette, which is completely striking along the lower lash line and NYX Cinnamon is as pretty as summer blushes come. Plus, NYX Tiramisu has quickly become my go-to nude lip. It's a beaut! It was a pleasure playing with my brand new treats and was ultra fun to contrast the warm complexion tones with cooler jewel-toned eyes. One of my fave looks in a while!

Have you tried any of the products I received in this swap? What new products are you loving for Summertime?

Thanks for stopping by! xo

  9. I ,ove your eye makeup! It's so hard to make bright colour work and not to look cheap or "unprofessional", but you did a really good job with this lila/violet - I definitely need to try and recreate this look, especially since the lilac tones would suit me green eyes ;)
If you'd like you could check out my new blog arabesque - I'd be honored ;)
