Sultry Valentine's Day Look on a Budget!

Hi, everyone! Whether you love or loathe all that Valentine's Day has to offer, there's no doubt that February 14th is a perfect excuse to sport some seriously flirty, smoldering makeup. Not that you ever need an official excuse! This year, I thought I'd share with you a couple of Valentine's looks (the second coming at you on Friday) that feature primarily those products that are heavy on colour, yet light on the wallet. Today's look is all about warm, sultry eyes and shimmering red lips.

I received several amazingly affordable makeup goodies for Christmas this year, some of which are at the heart of this look. First off, we have the Joe Fresh Cream Eye Shadows, which were a lovely gift from one of my closest friends. She sheepishly told me that she found these on sale for $1 each- I told her that she didn't have to whisper that fact. I was thoroughly impressed! Though these do tend to crease, the bold colour payoff and metallic finish are truly great! I mixed four shades for this look- Medallion (a warm, patina gold), Playa (a neutral, mid-tone shimmery brown), Chili (a bold orange-copper), and Smoke (a deep, cool brown) -concentrating the more golden shades on the inner portion of the lid and the warmer, orange-toned hues on the outer half. I also smudged a mix of them along my lower lash line for some extra smolder. To define the upper lash line, I used my trusty Annabelle Stay Sharp Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner in Go Black, which is also fabulous for the price.

For the lips, I opted for another thoughtful gift from my friend, Avon's Ultra Colour Lip Crayon in Reddy For Me, It's a festive, saturated apple red with subtle sparkle for a true vixen-like look. I warmed up the complexion with my go-to The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder in Fair Matte and added some shimmer to my cheekbones with the ever-glamorous The Balm Mary LouManizer. To finish things off, I swept a touch of NYX Powder Blush in Pinched (a warm shimmery golden rose) on the apples of my cheeks. The blush was a thoughtful Christmas gift from my little sister, which makes it extra special!

Here's a shot of the wallet-friendly goodies that went into this look:

And a few more shots of the look:

And that's it! I hope you enjoyed the first installment of my Valentine's on a Budget series. I have to say, I have tons of fun playing with oranges and reds- thyn tend to bring out the fiery side of this here wallflower :) And if you have any questions about the products I didn't list above (i.e., those not falling in the budget category), feel free to ask!

Is this a look you'd sport on Valentine's Day? What makeup shades make you feel ultra sultry?

Thanks for stopping by! xo

  3. I love that you used drugstore products for this look and it's gorgeous! I may be wrong but Joe Fresh is a SuperStore brand? I have seen some of the products but have never read any reviews on them. Will try to find a few of the cream shadows soon, I don't have oily lids so it might last a long time without creasing on me.
