Seduced by Nail Polish: Misslyn Cosmetics Launch Event

Hi, everyone! Late last month I was lucky enough to score an invite to the launch of an exciting new brand to Canada, Misslyn. Originating in Germany and sister partners to another fab brand, ARTDECO, Misslyn is available in over 30 countries and offers a full range of cosmetics. Their star products, an impressive selection of nail polishes, are now available at Shoppers Drug Mart and Jenn and I got a hands-on sneak peek before the items hit the shelves!

The event was held in the Trump hotel, which was appointed with very luxe, art deco-inspired design. The room was bustling with waiters toting hors d'oeuvres, rose-laden tables featuring some of the products, and a bar offering wine and champagne. We felt like quite the VIP guests!

The space also displayed several marketing images from the brand, which reiterated Misslyn's tag line "Sexy, Seductive, Irresistible". I was more turned on by the amazing shades of polish in the ad than all of the muscles, but I can totally see how these images would be ultra appealing to many guys and gals out there!

Also drool-worthy was a Misslyn-inspired candy bar, featuring the colour theme of their latest collection. "The Show Must Go On". As many of the appetizers offered included meat (vegetarian in the house!) I had my fair share of white chocolate-covered pretzels to compensate. The room also offered a video screen demonstrating the few easy steps it takes to achieve a work of Misslyn nail art. It was quite mesermizing to watch!

Quickly after arriving, we were offered a complimentary manicure and both jumped at the opportunity. We were directed to a display featuring a vast range of shades and were allowed to choose any Misslyn nail polish that our hearts desired. It was a tough call, but I ended up opting for Jumping Cracker, a blue-toned emerald green with a creamy finish.

The manicure included a full hand massage and accompanying glass of champagne, which was truly a heavenly combination. During the treatment we also got to interact with one of the brand's European-based representatives, who described the brand's history, expansion, and aesthetic. Always nice to learn something new whilst being pampered!

Here is the end result:

Jumping Cracker appeared to apply quite smoothly and offered full, even colour with two coats. The shade is greener than it appears in these shots, but nonetheless, it was a true beauty and unlike any other polish in my collection! The manicure looked so lovely that I had to capture it on a bed of roses :)

With drying nails I had to manoeuver the snacks gingerly, but still managed to score a few more pretzels ;) And I couldn't help but pose with champagne in hand, as it's not every day that I get to spend an evening at the Trump!

On our way out, we were provided with some further brand materials and a lovely little gift bag. It included a catalogue featuring the brand's entire product offering, which I am modelling here with my fresh new Misslyn nails.

It also included two full-sized nail polishes, including Red Carpet, a classic Hollywood red and Velvet Diamond Nail Polish in Elegance, a multifaceted, jewel-like silver. These aren't shades that I'd normally be drawn to, but I can totally see myself reaching for them around Christmastime. They are both quite festive!

Overall, my first experience with Misslyn was a seductive, colourful success! The nail polish I tried was utterly gorgeous and lasted chip-free on my nails for five days! Truly impressive. It was also great to learn more about the brand in such a luxurious setting. A huge thank you to Misslyn for the invite, including the pampering manicure and festive gift bag. Looking forward to trying more from the line!

If you're feeling seduced by Misslyn, you can now find their entire range of nail polishes at Shoppers Drug Mart!

Thanks for stopping by :)
