Look of the Day: The Bare Minimum

Hi, everyone! Sometimes, particularly following a couple of wildly dramatic Halloween Makeup looks, you have to tone things down a bit. I don't opt for uber-natural makeup all that often, but when I do, it's quite the breath of fresh air! Today highlights just such a look- a bit of contour, glow, brows, and lashes. And that's it!

Since the rest of the look was quite minimal, I did opt for a fuller-coverage, flawless base. I created that canvas using Revlon ColourStay Liquid Makeup in Buff, BeneFit Fake-Up under the eyes, and MAC Select Cover-Up NC20 on any redness peeking through.

To add some dimension, I created a subtle contour with Inglot's HD Sculpting Powder #504 underneath my cheekbones and along my jawline and popped in some glow using the amazingly beautiful RMS Living Luminizer on the top of my cheeks and down the bridge of my nose. For a gentle touch of colour on my cheeks, I swept a light wash of Inglot Fusion Blush & Illuminator #402, a lovely coral gold, on the apples of my cheeks.

To finish things off, I defined brows with my trusty Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Taupe and added a few generous coats of volumizing black mascara, Clinique High Impact. I then treated my pout with the most refreshing lip treat of all time, Hevea Spearmint Rosemary Lip Balm, and fini!

The Breakdown:

Foundation: Revlon ColourStay Liquid Makeup in Buff (Combo/Oily formula)
Concealer: BeneFit Fake-Up in Light (under eyes) and MAC Select Cover-Up NC20 (on blemishes and redness)
Powder: Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot (lightly on t-zone) and Inglot Illuminizing Pressed Powder #402 (all over)

Contour: Inglot HD Sculpting Powder #504

Blush: Inglot Fusion Blush & Illuminator #402

Highlighter: RMS Living Luminizer

Brows: Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Taupe

Mascara: Clinique High Impact in Black

Lips: Hevea Spearmint Rosemary Lip Balm

And a few more shots of the look:

While a look like this isn't in my typical comfort zone, it is ultra refreshing to sport an au naturel look once in a while. Kind of fun to just let my brows and lashes do the talking!

Are you a fan of a minimal makeup look? What are your go-to natural makeup products?

Also, as an update, I've got SECOND PLACE in the Savvyist Vampy Lip Challenge! I won a $25 Sephora gift card as my prize and I couldn't be more thrilled!! Thank you so much to everyone who voted. Your support means so much to me! xoxo

  1. You have natural beauty :) Sometimes I forget how much I love to wear more natural looking makeup. I've never tried Inglot, but you have me intrigued!

    1. Thanks so much, Gita! To be fair, despite the "natural" look, I am wearing quite a bit of foundation. Three cheers for Revlon ColourStay's flawless finish :)

  4. This is such a fresh look - I hate the "caked on make up" look and I don't know why some people find it attractive. This makeup looks so natural and works so well!

  5. Another beautiful look!! I don't normally do a more natural makeup look. I'm either really lazy and look kind of half done or go the whole yard with makeup hahaha!

  13. Love this look - so fresh and natural. Minimal makeup always looks so elegant, but I can't get over how "minimal" actually takes quite a few products lolol. Sometimes I try to do minimal makeup on weekends, but then I just end up using foundation, powder, etc anyways which kinda defeats the purpose lol
