Everyday Face

Hi, everyone! I've seen a few fun posts lately that feature bloggers' "daily face" lineup, a quick shot of the goodies used on their face that day. Recently, I decided to snap a photo of the products I use on a daily basis. As you can see, there is quite a selection! I've always marvelled at ladies who can use just a handful of makeup products and look totally polished and put together, but I've also come to embrace the fact that I'm a  bit higher maintenance and that's ok too :)

Here's a shot of the products used in my typical, "everyday face":

My routine features everything from primer to mascara, and includes several of my favourite products that get me through the 9-to-5 looking polished, professional, but still with a bit of fun. I thought I'd list the products in the order that I apply them, and add an anecdote or two about each:

Laura Mercier Oil-Free Foundation Primer
I apply this over my daily moisturizer (the incredible Antipodes Divine Face Oil) and it does a fantastic job of ensuring a smooth, even foundation application. It definitely increases the wear time of my base, doesn't have a heavy silicone feel, and doesn't break me out. Pure genius!

Revlon ColourStay Makeup (Combination/Oily formula) in Sand Beige
This seems to be a love it or hate it sort of foundation, but for me it's tops. Wears well all day without getting cakey and works wonders to cover my uneven skin tone. Sand Beige is my summertime shade and I switch to Buff during the colder months. I'll apply with a brush if I'm feeling advantageous, but most of the time fingers will do!

BeneFit Fake-Up Concealer in Light
I discovered this amazing concealer earlier this year and my dark undereye circles have been thanking me ever since. This does a fantastic job at both hydrating and concealing without creasing or feeling heavy. It's been a pleasant surprise!

MAC Select Cover-Up in NC20
I've been using this concealer on and off for over 10 years and I always come back to it. It does an amazing job at concealing blemishes without getting greasy or drying things out. And a little goes a very long way, so this tiny tube will last well over a year!

NYX Wonder Pencil in Light
This was featured on one of my recent wishlists and I'm so happy I picked it up! I use this multitasking pencil primarily on my lower waterline to add brightness to my eyes. Its flesh-toned hue is less stark than white eyeliner and it really does make me look awake even when my eyes are extra sleepy. Which is most mornings!

Daniel Sandler Watercolour Fluid Blusher in Cherub

This was one of the goodies I picked up in my recent Feel Unique haul and I'm so glad it's in my stash. There are several blushes in my daily makeup bag, but I've been reaching for this one the most lately. By far. With no exaggeration, this is the best non-powder blush I've ever used. It blends like a dream, stays put all day, and offers a natural rosy glow to the cheeks. Stay tuned for a review of this coming up!

MAC Blot Powder in Medium

This really is the perfect powder for my oily, sensitive skin. Mattifies without looking cakey, doesn't break me out, and works to control shine all day. What's not to love?!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light

This was another recent wishlist item that I was super jazzed about but have since cooled on slightly. I found that in summertime Dim Light worked amazingly as a highlighter, but since my winter pallor has returned, the shade is a couple shades too dark for my skin. I've improvised a bit and am using it as a subtle bronzer and contour shade, and for that purpose it's fairing quite well.

Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Ash Blonde/Taupe

This product has been the ultimate godsend for my sparse eyebrows. Applied with a small angle brush, this powder gives perfect fullness to my brows and stays put all day. Will never be without this!

Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel in Caramel

This gel is a newer addition to my lineup and I've been liking it! It's not a necessity, as my brow powder works amazingly on its own, but this warm light brown shade adds an extra touch of definition and polish and keeps my sometimes unruly brows (yes, you can have brows that are both sparse and unruly!) in check.

Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original
I first gave this cult product a try about 10 years ago and have been loyal to it ever since! It does a stellar job at increasing the intensity of eye shadow shades while preventing creasing and fading, and feels smooth and comfortable on the lids. I'll never try another!

MAC Eye Shadow Custom Quad (Mulch, Bronze, Ricepaper, Amber Lights)

There are several eye shadows in my daily makeup bag, but this quad is my go-to for a neutral, shimmery semi-smokey eye. I really think my love for these shades has single-handedly dissuaded me from buying the Urban Decay Naked Palettes to this point. These shades are that good! Ricepaper is the ultimate shimmery yellow highlight shade, Amber Lights is a beautiful bronzey-orange accent colour (for when I want a bit of extra oomph) and Mulch and Bronze are perfect in the crease, the former being cooler-toned and the latter super warm. They really are a no-fail combination!

Tarte emphasEYES Clay Liner in Brown

My makeup bag also houses a few eyeliners, but this one is definitely my most-used. A rich chocolate brown shade, this gives excellent definition to the eye and is a great daytime alternative to my beloved black liquid liner. The formula lasts all day and the foam smudger lets me create an ever-so-subtle winged liner to bring a touch of flair to the office :)

Revlon Grow Luscious Lash Potion Waterproof Mascara in Black

I have to say that I'm not loving this mascara, but since it's in my stash I'm using it for extra rainy or humid days when I can't afford for my mascara to smudge. It adds a fair amount of length and volume to my lashes, but can't compete with my beloved Clinique mascaras. Oh well! Will use this one up and move on.

Here are a couple shots of me wearing all of the featured products in my daily lineup, plus a touch of my Bonne Bell Dr. Pepper Lipsmacker  for good measure:

Not only have my "Everyday Face" products made it into my daily roster because of their dreamy textures and flattering shades, they've also earned their place because their wear time is incredible! Here's a shot of me (pooped) post-work, a full 9 hours after applying my makeup:

With zero touchups, the makeup still manages to last the day, with only a smidge of breakthrough shine and fading. Pretty impressive, I'd say!

And here's one final, ultra-sized shot of all of the goodies that go into my "Everyday Face":

Wow, and this has turned in to a super long post! I guess it's proof that I use quite a number of makeup goodies daily, but it's also a testament to how much I want to gush about most of them!

Have you tried any of the products I featured here? What are your go-to goodies for your "everyday face"?

Thanks for reading! xo

    1. Thanks, Ingrid! Dim Lighting is a bit too dark for my skin as a highlight, but it's been working great as a subtle bronzer and contour :)
