My Winter Shower

Hi, everyone! This blog frequently features my favourite makeup and skin care items, but rarely sheds light on what I typically use in terms of hair care and bath and body. Once in a while, I like to remedy this and give you a literal peek into my shower! Luckily, the products on my shower rack aren't very modest, so they don't mind if you take a look ;)

Several months ago, I featured the items in my summer shower rotation, so now it's time for my winter installment! Overall, wintertime fills my shower with spicy scents and moisturizing formulas. Who doesn't want to feel warm and pampered when the weather outside is so frigid?! The products I'm using currently are a true mix of higher- and low-end, natural and more conventional. They've been working in tandem to keep my skin and hair happy!

Here's a larger photo of the whole she-bang, then some close-ups of the individual sections and descriptions of each product:

Top (L-R): B Kamins Vegetable Cleanser, Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner, Lush Ponche Shower Gel, Tigi Bed Head Resurrection Shampoo, Live Clean Exotic Nectar Argan Oil Conditioning Mask
Bottom (L-R): Bic Soleil, Lush North Pole Soap, Lush The Godmother Soap, B Kamins Maple Sugar Body Scrub

(L-R): B Kamins Vegetable Cleanser, Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner, Lush Ponche Shower Gel, Tigi Bed Head Resurrection Shampoo, Live Clean Exotic Nectar Argan Oil Conditioning Mask

B. Kamins Vegetable Cleanser*
This is my go-to morning cleanser for the wintertime (year-round, really!) because it is incredibly gentle on my skin. Though quite basic and lacking the bells and whistles that other cleansing products tout, this mild face wash is just what my sensitive, acne-prone skin needs to keep happy. Leaves my face clean, never greasy, never tight. B. Kamins was kind enough to send me this product and I'm so happy that they did!

Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner
I've used this line on and off in the past and keep coming back to it because the smell is incredible! This sweet, coconut-scented concoction feels like a rich treat on my hair and leaves my dry ends feeling smooth (despite their annoying tendency to be straw-like). I picked this up from Shoppers Drug Mart for only $4.99. One of my better bargain buys of late!

Lush Ponche Shower Gel
This was a limited edition holiday item and I'm so glad I snagged it before it was gone! Its bright orange hue is paired with a citrus and tequila(!) scent that is festive, cheery, and sophisticated. Is nice as an occasional shampoo as well- leaves hair smelling great! Really hope Lush brings this one back next Christmas!

Tigi Bed Head Resurrection Shampoo
This was a random purchase from Winners (think Canadian TJ Maxx) when I was on the hunt for an affordable, yet richly moisturizing shampoo for winter. There's nothing about this shampoo that makes it unique, but the texture is quite creamy and the smell rather pleasant, so I have no major complaints!

Live Clean Exotic Nectar Argan Oil Condition Mask
This was another re-purchase; this drug store hair mask works incredibly well and is an excellent value. Excellent for parched locks and has a sweet nutty scent that smells nourishing- if that's even possible ;) I scored it on sale at Shoppers for only $4.99!

(L-R): Bic Soleil Bella Razor, Lush North Pole Soap, Lush The Godmother Soap, B Kamins Maple Sugar Body Scrub

Bic Soleil Bella Razor
I'm not too picky with my razor, but I find that this 4-blade style does a good job at keeping legs smooth while minimizing irritation. They come in pretty colours too! Though I definitely plan to look into razors that are made by cruelty-free, animal-friendly companies.

Lush North Pole Soap
This was another limited-edition holiday goody from Lush. The soap came in two separate incarnations, pink and white. I opted for the white version, which features a minty-sweet, slightly herbal scent. Lush soaps have a tendency to be slightly drying, but this one is actually quite creamy!

Lush The Godmother Soap
Luckily this dreamy soap is a permanent item in Lush's lineup. If you love the popular Snow Fairy Shower Gel, you'd be amiss not to give this one a go. Fruity and sweet, this burgundy soap will make you feel incredibly girly. And you will smell lovely :)

B. Kamins Maple Sugar Body Scrub*
Most. Delicious. Body. Scrub. Ever! B. Kamins was kind enough to send me this product as a treat for my dry, winter skin. Made with maple sugar, mineral salts, and AHAs, it has a thick, rich texture that does an amazing job at smoothing out dry, winter skin. It also leaves behind a moisturizing finish and a subtle maple scent. You'll be rubbing and sniffing your skin all day! But try not to look too weird when doing it ;)

And one more flashy photo for good measure!

What are some of your favourite shower-time goodies during the colder months? Any products you saw here that caught your eye? Any incredible drugstore finds lately?

Thanks for reading!

  1. I have to admit my summer and winter routine is pretty similar, I just add body scrub in the summer since I wear fake tan. That Organix line does smell amazing, my bf uses it and I occassionally steal some.

    1. Doesn't it smell great? And yeah, there's definitely some overlap between my summer and winter products, but I do enjoy using slightly richer formulas during the coler months :)

  5. Coconut!! I'm obsessed with that scent all year long. During winter time I tend to prefer orient inspired scents. Currently I have a body spray with ginger and tamarind - so frigging nice smelling!!:)
P.S.: That Jessica Chastain tutorial was great, honey. Make-up looked flawless and it looked really good on you too!

  11. I am looking for a body scrub that will be kind enough to my sensitive, dry skin this winter and after reading this post, I realized I should give Kamins Maple Sugar Body Scrub a try. The only product I have tried from this line is their acne wash and I think it's about time that I explore more products from this brand. I love how you said that this leaves a maple scent behind. I'm all about earthy and woody notes when it comes to bath products this time of the year so having this in my winter skincare routine would be an absolute treat! Thanks for the review :)
