Lipsticks For... Your Softer Side (Or When you want Something a bit Different)

Hey, everyone! Today's post can definitely be filed in the 'better late than never' category. Back in January and February I began organizing, photographing, and swatching my lipstick collection by colour family. In the process, I brought to you my vampy, coral, fuchsia (pictured in my header), nude, red, and rosy shades of lipstick all arranged neatly among their peers (can lipsticks have peers?).

And now for the final installment! Since this is the last bunch I'm featuring, the shades in this group are a bit of a mish-mash. Half are those shade for your "softer side": gentle pinks and peaches that aren't quite nude, rosy, or coral. Those that create a more subdued lip without leaving things too naked. The other half are those that are a bit 'differerent', that didn't fit into any previous category. They mostly consist of bronzy browns and complex purples. For when you want something a bit outside the box!

Without further ado, here they are:

(L-R): Dior Addict Lipstick in Bobo, Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait, Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Aventure, Chanel Aqualumiere in Zanzibar, MAC Lustre Lipstick in Viva Glam VI, Boots Moisture Drench Lipstick in Paradise, MAC Amplified Lipstick in Up the Amp, Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter in Lollipop

And some closeups:

(L-R): Dior Addict Lipstick in Bobo, Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait, Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Aventure, Chanel Aqualumiere in Zanzibar

(L-R): MAC Lustre Lipstick in Viva Glam VI, Boots Moisture Drench Lipstick in Paradise, MAC Amplified Lipstick in Up the Amp, Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter in Lollipop

And swatches!

(L-R): Dior Addict Lipstick in Bobo, Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait, Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Aventure, Chanel Aqualumiere in Zanzibar, MAC Lustre Lipstick in Viva Glam VI, Boots Moisture Drench Lipstick in Paradise, MAC Amplified Lipstick in Up the Amp, Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter in Lollipop

Closeups of the swatches:

(L-R): MAC Lustre Lipstick in Viva Glam VI, Boots Moisture Drench Lipstick in Paradise, MAC Amplified Lipstick in Up the Amp, Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter in Lollipop

And a description of each shade, including links to past posts where I've featured them!

Dior Addict Lipstick in Bobo is a warm peachy coral with a semi-sheer, shimmery finish. The formula of the Addict lipsticks is wonderfully moisturizing and comfortable on the lips. This particular shade is the perfect compromise between a bare nude and a bright coral. So lovely for spring and summer! You can see me wearing it, here.
Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait is quite similar to Dior Bobo, but slightly more pink, sheer, and shimmery. Lovely for a bit of colour and shine on the lips, while still being quite soft and wearable. You can see it featured, here!
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Aventure is my only Chanel Coco Shine and I really like it. The formula is quite sheer and moisturizing, lightweight, but creamy. So nice! The shade is a soft, warm pink with just a tiny bit of punch. Another ideal shade for spring. You can see me wearing it, here!
Chanel Aqualumiere in Zanzibar is a warm bronzy coral with a moisturizing formula and semi-sheer finish. Unfortunately this line of lipsticks has been retired by Chanel, but I'll definitely be reaching for this one often during the summertime!  You can see photos and a review of it, here.
MAC Lustre Lipstick in Viva Glam VI is a unique plummy brown shade with a slightly shiny finish and an opacity half-way between sheer and opaque. It is photographing quite brown in my pictures here, but there definitely are some interesting plummy-purple undertones in this one. I don't reach for it often, but it really is a wonderful shade for fall! See a review and more photos of it, here.
Boots Moisture Drench Lipstick in Paradise is an incredibly unique pinky-plummy-brown shade with subtle peach and gold undertones. Definitely complex! The finish is near opaque and the formula is rich and moisturizing. So lovely! You can see me wearing it, plus a full review here.
MAC Amplified Lipstick in Up the Amp is probably the most "different" shade I have in my collection. This rich purple-violet shade seems to have both warm and cool undertones. The formula is incredibly pigmented with a slight sheen. I thought that it wouldn't suit me at all, but it's surprisingly wearable! See my feature of it, here.
Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter in Lollipop nearly made it into my post on fuchsia lipsticks, but its slight blueish-purple undertones landed it here. As with all of the lip butters, the formula is rich and moisturizing and the finish is shiny and semi -heer. You can see it on my lips, here!

And a few more super-sized photos for good measure:

(L-R): Dior Addict Lipstick in Bobo, Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait, Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Aventure, Chanel Aqualumiere in Zanzibar, MAC Lustre Lipstick in Viva Glam VI, Boots Moisture Drench Lipstick in Paradise, MAC Amplified Lipstick in Up the Amp, Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter in Lollipop

(L-R): Dior Addict Lipstick in Bobo, Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait, Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Aventure, Chanel Aqualumiere in Zanzibar, MAC Lustre Lipstick in Viva Glam VI, Boots Moisture Drench Lipstick in Paradise, MAC Amplified Lipstick in Up the Amp, Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter in Lollipop

And that's it! Feels really good to have finally swatched the majority of my collection. Makes me really appreciate the stash that I have and will hopefully remind me that I really don't need that 9th hot pink lipstick! :)

Do you own any of the shades I've featured today? Any of them catch your eye? What are some of your favourite "soft" or "different" lipsticks?

As always, thanks for reading! xo

  7. Oh, that MAC Lustre Lipstick in Viva Glam VI!! I need something in a plummy brown shade. And Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter in Lollipop looks great too and I like that it's moisturizing, my lips are a frigging desert. Always!! Anyhow, your collection is really impressive. 1. Thanks, Peet! Yeah, Viva Glam VI and Lollipop are both fantastic. The Lip Butters are especially great for dry lips. And the jury is still out on how long it will take to use up all my lipsticks, especially since I own about 60! Will try to use them up the best I can, which means not buying any more! I'll try my best :)

you have such a lovely blog yourself here! Omg these seems to be all the right shades, you have an amazing collection! Really like the way MAC's Up the Amp looks... reminds me sort of of that "Rebel" colour they have, that has a subtle purple tint to it. So pretty! Like those edge colours you opt for when wanting to try something a little different.

  15. I'm not a big fan of lipstick, but red is my color. Probably because I have thin lips and red lipstick really plumps them up. Some of these shades are really beautiful though.

No, but seriously. I do love these lipstick posts. They are giving me some great inspiration.
