Look of the Day: Rebel, Rebel

In addition to the different types of posts I feature on the blog, I thought I'd start doing a series of "Looks of the Day"- quick posts that break down some of my favourite makeup looks and showcase some of my most beloved products.

Today's features the lovely Rebel Lipstick from MAC. With a richly pigmented satin finish, Rebel is a bold berry shade with both pink and purple undertones. It makes a statement on its own, so I left the rest of my makeup look fairly simple. Also, since it the summertime, I didn't want to apply the lipstick in an overly heavy, polished way. Instead, I applied it directly from the tube, then blended it in with my finger for a stained effect.

These pictures don't fully capture the vibrant richness of this shade, but hopefully you can get a good idea! Here a a couple pictures, then the full breakdown of the look:

    1. Aww, thanks! I did use the Hula Hula bronzer as a contour before blending it out as a bronzer. Thanks for noticing ;) And yeah, Rebel worn as a stain is one of my new favourite summer looks. Like an (intense) post-grape popsicle effect :)

    1. Thanks! I have waaay too many lipsticks, so I really appreciate shades that are super unique like this one. I also love shades like Rebel that look a bit dark and intimidating in the tube, but are actuall quite wearable.

Thanks for the kind comments, and for reading :)

  11. you know, you are really crazy beautiful -- just thought i'd let you know!
i have tried revlon colorstay before, and unfortunately it wasn't for me. too intense for what my skin likes, and it kind of smelled like paint... yikes!

    1. Awww, thanks Alexandra! That's so nice of you to say :) Yeah, ColourStay definitely isn't for everyone. I've always leaned towards moderate to full coverage foundations, but if you're used to sheerer formulas I can see how it would seem pretty intense! I've recently started mixing it with a tinted moisturizer (Chantecaille Just Skin) to sheer it out a bit and it works wonderfully! :)
