Nail of the Day: Illamasqua Imperfection Speckled Nail Varnish in Scarce

Happy Hump Day, ladies and gents! I've recently made a resolution to be better about painting my nails. So many lovely polishes in my collection, I need to use them more often! In line with this, I decided to don my nails with an absolutely perfect shade for spring, Illamasqua Speckled Nail Varnish in Scarce

Illamasqua Speckled Nail Varnish in Scarce
Part of the Illamasqua's Imperfection spring collection, Scarce is one of several brand new polishes that features freckle-like, irregularly dispersed glitter throughout the base shade. I was drawn to Scarce because I thought the pale candy pink and jewel-like blue tones were super feminine, with a bit of an edge. To me, it creates the perfect robin's egg look, which is so fitting for this time of year!

When I first showed this polish off to my boyfriend, he exclaimed "whoa, that's just like the outside of a jawbreaker candy!" I'm usually quick to laugh off his impressions of my makeup finds (because really, guys' opinions of makeup are typically adorable, hilarious, and a bit off-base), but this impression was pretty spot-on! So whether you see robin's egg or jaw breaker, this polish is totally mesmerizing!

As for the formula, I am totally wowed so far. I've now been wearing the polish for 3 full days and there are zero chips! An incredibly impressive feat, given that I spent much of the weekend passing presents and opening cards at my sister's bridal shower! Plus, three days later there is still a nice shiny finish to the polish and none of the glitter has fallen out. Couldn't be happier!

Here are a few more photos:

What are your thoughts of this shade? Something you'd wear?  Have you tried any of the Speckled Nail Varnishes from the Imperfection collection?

Cheers! xo

  5. Wow, glad to hear about it not chipping. I have been interested in these polishes, and would probably go for the pink as well. The blue reminds me too much of a bird's egg, and for some reason that really grosses me out! haha

    1. Isn't it lovely?! But yeah, the price definitely scared me too (about $20 with tax, eek)! I just discovered some Hard Candy polishes that are quite similar. Gonna test them out soon to see if they're comparable :)
